Specific campsite descriptions

hi,
Just got back from a wonderful stay at Ft wilderness. We were in the 500 loop and while this was booked as a premium site, the location was great bu it seemed pretty tight from the angle of it. I know I had seen before either an app or website where users could provide descriptions of the campsite. (I guess similar to stateroom reviews on another website)

I think there is an "App" for that somewhere. I forget what it was called though. I know there was about a 50/50 view of like/dislike of it. To each their own I guess.

My objective is to try as many of the sites as I can before I die and have my own personal review of them.

No kidding. Are you looking for anything specific about the sites? That app utilizes the same site descriptions as what the front desk has, only they added pictures of the sites as well.

Lol yeah when I had previously looked at it I thought it would be helpful. However now that I have seen it again after staying it is not very helpful at all.
I'm just trying to get an idea of what sites are more spacious and easier to access. But when I looked at the app it just gave the demensions which doesn't give you the entire picture of how easy the site is to get into.
I saw on another thread that you can't request specific sites anyway so I guess it's a moot point.

Let me tell you about that from my personal experience. The app lists sites as easy, medium, hard, or very hard to get into. I have backed into sites it listed as easy that I didn't think I would ever get into. Another site was listed as very hard and I got into it with no problem. It really depends on what you are pulling and driving. I agree, not much use in looking if you have no idea what you will get. Now the measuring part can be helpful if you are reviewing loops and their averages trying to see what loops to or not to request.

Just tell them that your rig is 5 foot longer than it is with slides on both sides....

I have that app, think I've looked at it twice. I didn't wanna get my heart set on a particular site knowing you may or may not get it. Our 5er is 43 feet long and I'm sure I can get on just about any site there (except the pop up loops), the problem I run into is folks with two or more vehicles parked half way out into the road. Like Tiggerdad said, it depends on alot, I can put my 43 ft 5er in a spot were he can't get his 35 ft bumper pull. Been to FW 3 times, haven't seen any bad spots yet.

Totally agree with this. I have only been there 2 times (3 and 4 may be this year). The first time I had a hard time getting my 27' TT in the 300 loop. Partly because it was night, but mostly because others around had their golf carts and/or vehicles part way in the road. (Was my first visit to the Fort and I wasn't fully versed with the "Rules"). Others did offer to help (as far as guiding) though so that was nice. The second time I was in the 1400 loop and had ZERO issues. I think it's less about the loop (or site) and more about how others around you (at time of parking) are taking up (or not) space outside their sites.

If I ran into an issue again in the future of someone's vehicle on the road making it more difficult to get into my site, I would ask to have it moved, at least while I was backing it in.

Our TT has a total length of 30 feet from the nose of the hitch to the rear bumper. Our tow vehicle changed this year, and we went to our normal camp spot and I had a harder time backing in to the same spot due to the truck being longer (upgrade from a 1500 to a 3500 crew cab long bed drw). There was a big bush across from the site that I was trying not to run over. I can see by the rails for the 5er in our truck that backing in would be easier as it would move the pivot point of the vehicle and trailer up about 3 feet from our TT. Luckily last year we were in 1400, and having requested 100 this year I know it will be a little tighter to get in, but I have faith in my abilities.

I've found the ********** app for Android helpful, but I believe a lot of the site difficulty ratings predate the widening of many of the sites by Disney. When the sites were made wider, it helped alleviate a lot of the stress for getting in. I had some pretty bad experiences over the past ten years trying to back a 40ft fifth wheel in, and several times they assigned me a site where it was just impossible. The app used to be extremely helpful with this, and I still find some benefit there. YMMV!
