Special tips for kids!

I am so excited to take my kids. I had an idea for those people that are not into their kids having soda. My son has been dying to try Coke....the drink:tongue: DH and most of my family memebers drink it everyday, maybe up to 3-4 a day. I just gave up soda maybe 6 months ago..and ever since my DS2 has been asking and asking to try it.

I thought, since we were going to be in WDW I would let him try the different countires cokes at the Cola Station and let him decide there if he likes it. Anyone know which country has the most bitter taste?

I realize that that will last until 6-7, but hey that buys me a few years!! Let me know..thanks!

hey mama thats a sneaky plan. from what i've read Beverly is the worst tasting. can't say from personal experience but that seems to be the concensus. Good luck keeping them away from soda for that long.

if you are at rope drop when ToonTown opens, you parade with Minnie and Mickey into the opening. The first children in line get to hold their hands.

that sounds like a great thing to do erinch. How soon do you have to line up in front of the ropes? Do they do this everyday? this is the first i heard of this.

This is not a secret but just a suggestion:

If you are staying at the WDW Resorts, make sure you make some time to visit the playground at your resort, My son LOVED the Riverside playground, it got him away from "DISNEY" for awhile and back to reality, where there were no crowds and his senses were not constantly being challenged.

It seemed like a break for him. We ended up doing it a couple of times in mid afternoon/mid evening and it made for a much happier camper.

Oh and dont forget the Nap time everyday. I know some of the parents want their little one to experience everything, but there is nothing more frustrating than trying to take your kid out of his or her daily schedule and expect them not to get grumpy. I hate to see parents getting mad at their kids because the kid is just plain tired and needs a nap LOL.

Have a great time everyone!

This was a fun tip that I found to keep my kids from going bonkers those few weeks before heading to Disney World. I went to the local craft store and got an 8 X 9, 3-ring scrapbook journal. I purchased scrapbooking paper that was 8 1/2 X 11 and tore the sheets in half. Punched holes in each page and stuck on reinforcing tabs for the holes. Then I let my kids start decorating each page. They decided to dedicate one page for each of their favorite characters and used stickers, glitter and colored pencils. When we got to Disney, they had so much fun getting autographs and the characters did a great job interacting with them when they saw their very own "page". I put a handful of plastic picture inserts into the back of each autograph book and they used those for holding favorite pictures, one page holds their pins, plus other momento's that they picked up along the way.

Hey, these are great! I just taught myself to copy and paste all my favorite tips into a Word document because of what I read here - thanks!!! Keep 'em coming!:D

Just wanted to give this a bump and see if we are missing any ideas? Anyone have anything to add?

Please keep the tips coming,
If all goes well we will be first time parents by year end. Our son will be 3 1/2 and we plan to take him to WDW next fall and could use all the kid friendly tips you have to offer ;)

Keep em coming!!!

Epcot and DTD have "jumping fountains" and Donalds Boat in Tune Town MK used to have (turned off for drought, don't know if back on) some wet activities. There's a spraying "hydrant" in AK. It's a really good idea to put their swimsuit on or slip one in the stroller, plus a face towel to avoid either disappointment or freezing cold clothes in air conditioning.

If you eat at Tony's at MK tell the waiter that you heard that the Lady and the Tramp were having dinner in the kitchen. Then ask if he will take your autograph book to them to be signed. You will be surprised at the results. We also got Tony's autograph while he was in the kitchen.

I love this thread!

Just wanted to add how much our ds LOVES the jumping fountains at DTD! He could literally spend hours there.

He also really likes all of the play areas in the parks. They give him a much needed break from sitting in the stroller and waiting in lines!:D

Kim in TN, Is your son home with you yet? Just saw your post. He's adorable!!!:earsboy:

This is a great post! Keep the tips coming!

Thanks for asking, but it will be after the first of the year before we travel
Hopefully soon though

This isn't really a tip but I wanted to mention how much my kids loved trading pins with the cm's! We are not serious collectors but I bought a bunch when The Disney Store had them 75% off and this ended up being the highlight of the trip!! The cm's were thrilled to trade with the kids and would sometimes even approach us if they saw the girls eyeing their lanyards! Every time someone asks them what their favorite thing was, pin trading was usually mentioned first!

Great thread and great tips! I wish I had more to add to this list, but I don't. So I am just bumping this up for everyone else who could use these tips and see if there is anyone else that might have something to add!

Thanks!
