Special things at resorts

I am wondering if anyone knows of any great things at particular resorts that don't appear listed in any place but resort check-in info (but are open to all WDW guests)

For example:
WL tour
Ladybug release at GF
Torch lighting at Poly

Thought I would schedule a day or 2 of these types of activities as a great way to see many resorts.

Hi there...

AKL has a "Hidden Mickey Safari" - it's a sheet you get from Guest Services... follow the clues and find all the hidden mickeys.. a great way to see the resort.

Also they have story tellng by the firepit evenings at 7:30pm

Don't forget about flag families at WL. Unfortunately, this is only available to WL guest though!

InstImpres -- I didn't know there was a ladybug release at GF. Do you have any more info on it like the days and times? I remember a discussion about there being one at WL, but it was discontinued.

What is the torch lighting ceremony?

This short program is the Polynesian welcoming of the night. It features an authentic Polynesian dancer who does a traditional fire-knife dance, and lights the torches leading into the Great Ceremonial House. A Polynesian entertainer is also on hand to perform chants and authentic drumming. It is presented each evening, Tuesday through Saturday, at 6:00 pm

When we stayed at the GF we really enjoyed seeing the "Maid Parade" (that's what we call it, I can't remember the real name.) On certain mornings all the housekeepers (and some male employees too) parade around the grounds. The housekeepers carry parasols and look really cute dressed up in their outfits. One of them motioned for my DD11 to come over and join her and she let her hold her parasol! It was really neat!

There's a "garden tour" at the BC.

Lots of special things for DVC Members at Community Hall at the BWV--stop in and enquire about the schedule when you arrive.

I think they do a ladybug release at the poly as well.

It's fun to see the geyser go off every hour at the WL. Also, we were flag family there and that was fun.
