Hello,

I was on the DVC Member Website and I was looking at the Home Resort Rules and Regulations. I am not sure if the section on page 10 with the heading "Special Season Preference List" and the section on page 12 "Guaranteed Reservations (fixed ownerships interests only) are new or have been added since we became members in 1997.

Has the "Special Season Preference List" ever been invoked? If I read this correctly this list could allow a member to make a reservation 15 months instead of 11 months out at their home resort. Plus, a member could make reservations at a resort that is not their home resort 12 months in advance.

This confuses me. Could this SSPL put non home resort members in front of home resort members?? The list states it is on a first come first serves basis. If you are on the list you could cause home resort members to not be able to reserve at the 11 month window. DVC could also set a minimum number of nights. so, members with smaller contracts be excluded. The sceptic in me then questions whether DVC could charge t be on this Special list?

Could anyone offer some clarity?

Thanks!

Patrick

It was used only for the Christmas season in the 1990's to very early 2000's. You could sign up for your desired time at any resort (including one you did not own) two years out and then at one year out, you would be called in the order of date of sign-up and asked if you still wanted your desired reservation. A main reason it was discontinued is that it just got to be too much work for MS, particularly as more resorts were added. I doubt we will ever see it again except possibly if the Olympics come to Orlando.

No, as home resort members would have 15 months, not 11. Non home members would have 12, which yes, would be an advantage IF home members only had 11, but home members are bumped up to 15.

But, with the number of DVC rooms available now, this is more or less a moot point.

They actually have 2 options, special season preference list and a lottery. Both have been used but it's been a while for both. My guess is the next time they come into play is near the end of the RTU.
