Special offering?

Just made the deposit for AKV 260 pts yesterday for initially Dec UY. He called today informing me of "good news" that he is allowed to tell me I am now given a Feb UY. This apparently will mean the following:

1) I now have 260 points now that I can use till Feb 07 at which point I will then have 08 another 260 points
2) They will make exceptions for banking for this year into next year if I decide to even if I am within the 6 mo window.
3) My maintenance dues will be prorated I assume.

Am I understanding these correctly? Am I getting something "extra" here?
These are apparently possible with my contract because of actual availability of AKV rooms at this time as opposed to selling me something that currently does not exist yet

Moreover, with a starting Feb 07 UY, when can I start making reservations for 2007 then again in 2008 for AKV vs other resorts respectively.

We are hoping for a trip in April 07.

It sounds as if you will have 260 points that can be banked into your 2008 use year and then you will get another 260 points Feb 1 2008. You can make a reservation at AKV any time that is 11 months from your check out date - If you want April 2008 (April 2007 is already gone) you should bank the 2007 points and then use them for that reservation . They will have to be used by Jan 31 2009. If you should decide you want to take a trip before Feb 2008 you should make tht reservation and then bank the remaining points to be used for the April 2008 trip. If you are talking about any resort other than AKV you have to wait until 7 months from your check out date. You could book that April 2008 trip at AKV now or at any other resort in Sept on the check out date ie Sept 5 for check in Apr 4 if booking day by day. You can book day by day or the whole trip at once. The day by day works well for prime dates such as around Easter and Christmas.

I apologize...I meant my UY starts Feb08. Hence, DVC is giving me 260 pts now to use til Feb08 at which point in Feb08 another 260 pts will be reissued.
Maintenance dues will be prorated.

As I had asked, is this offering to be expected or is actually unique?

It is interesting because we were initially given as a choice to receive incentive points equivalent to the purchase pts to use within 7 months or dream dollars (for AKV $8 per point) towards the downpayment.

We chose the dream dollars for our contract but now it seems we are getting both.

In addition, SSR was offering a Feb use year with 2007 points and $10/point off OR Sep use year with double points (no discount on points) - 1/2 of which had to be used prior to Feb 2008.
Maybe I got this backwards but I am pretty sure this is accurate but again check with your guide and have them confirm the specifics.

I am not sure what has been offered is developer incentive points. As of right now that incentive is double what you purchase, so if they are getting 260 points, that would mean 520 developer points.

The important question to ask is if what they are offering is developer points or just providing additional points via your normal purchase. I know they can do this type of thing with resales, but hadn't heard it could be done with SSR or AKV.

My info is based on my tour on July 6.

To answer the question about what, if anything, is "extra":

Under your original scenario, you wouldn't have had points available until December 2007 -- so you wouldn't be able to make reservations for this summer or fall. December would be the earliest you could use points for a stay. However, under the offer your guide told you about, you now have 260 points available to use for immediate reservations, and if you don't plan on staying before February of 2008, you can bank those points into your next use year, so that you will have 520 points beginning in February of 2008. Of course, as the guide mentioned, you will have to pay prorated dues on those additional points (so it isn't for free), but you won't have to wait until December for your first trip home!

We bought AKV at the end of April and were given a March UY. We got our 2007 points immediately.

I am almost positive that the double developer points cannot be banked. If there are just single developer points maybe they can be banked, maybe that is the compromise to allow banking.

It's my understanding that I can bank the Feb 2007 points to 2008 -- as long as I do it 6 months in advance.

The 320 developer points have to be used in 7 months.

We have a Feb UY and when we added on @ AKV we got our 07 points.

To the OP - you can make reservation when your 11 month window opens - UY does not have anything to do with when you can make reservations. We already have reservations for April and June of 2008 - they will use 08 points, which will be in my account by the time the dates arrive.

Thanks for all the info, esp grizbuzz who confirmed my scenario. My guide made it seem like this is not normally the case because AKV "rooms" are still being built. However, as my guide had said, I have this offer, as per Florida state law, because of the existence of certain "rooms." And now, as grizbuzz had mentioned, it sounds like they have this as a limited time offer as they can only build the rooms so fast relative to the amount of new contracts being sold.

I suspect that this offer will be on and off just based on the actual existent rooms. Perhaps our new DVC members should continually inquire prior to solidfying their contract.

I wanted to personally thank 3mouseketer for posting this thread. The timing of this worked very well for me as we were finally moving off of the fence with doing DVC and were actually leaning in a different direction until this offer. I had a call into my guide on Thursday and hadn't gotten a call back, found out today he is off Thursday and Friday. I saw this post and called him this evening and I am now a DVC Owner/Member at AKV.

We took advantage of the Feb 07 UY and the double developer points. We purchased 160, so I have 480 points available to play with and plan out some disney stays.
