Are the Disney Buttons only avaliable when you have a special occasion while you are down in the resort?

I ask because our wedding anniversary is on Sept. 18, but we always plan our DL trip at the end of September, this year the 23-29. Would it be inappropriate to ask for an anniversary button?

We also celebrate my childrens b-days while down there, but those are in August and probably to far away :P

I don't think it's inappropriate at all. In general, I say if you are celebrating close to your Disney dates- then go for it!

One year, I knew we would be surprising DS the following year with a surprise birthday visit. So I asked the CM at city hall if I could get a bday button for his next visit. I wanted to incorporate it into his surprise. I fully expected her to say no-but she was more then happy to help, even leaving off the year that they normally write on the button.

This year, we were there on my actual birthday so I got a button. In 2013, we're going 2/22-3/2. We're getting a button for DS even though his birthday is 3/8. The CM who booked my package suggested it and even suggested getting one for myself (2/5) and DH (3/12) but I figured we'd let DS be special this year since I got my chance last time. I wouldn't have even thought to ask for it, but she suggested it so I am sure you can get yours. For our ADR on the last night, I marked it down as a celebration for his birthday so he gets a little extra attention then too.

Not at all inappropriate. The date itself is not as important as the fact that you chose to celebrate it together at DLR! Have a great trip:cool1:

Thank you very much for your thoughts, looks like I will be stopping at City Hall first thing and getting some buttons!

Our anniversary was 8/20 and we were in the parks 8/12-8/16 and we got the buttons. So many people said happy anniversary. So much so that my DS3 keeps on giving me a big hug and smile and saying "happy anniversary mommy!" It has been really cute.

I too think the actual date matters not when requesting a button. My DH and I were married in August 2010 and went on our honeymoon in DLR in October 2010 and got the 'just married' buttons we wore proudly. The following year we spent our anniversary also and again got the anniversary buttons. This summer in June it was an early birthday trip for myself and got one too to add to the collection. It's really fun noticing others too and wishing them a happy celebration too!

Not inappropriate at all IMO! In April we did a combined b-day trip for DM and myself (in the middle of our 2 dates) and the CM at PPH were more than happy to give us our buttons. It was the 1st time I had been there for my b-day and I really enjoyed it. I was surprised how many people, not CMs, said Happy Birthday to me. So be prepared for even the guests to make a mention of your anniversary.

Hope you have a fantastic trip and anniversary and b-day celebrations!!!

We are leaving in the am to go to DLR to celebrate my 50th birthday which was 8/11. You can bet I will be getting a button for my 50th birthday. :dance3:

Does anyone know if certain buttons are seasonal in availability? I ask bc I am going next June for my graduation celebration and I didn't know if they would have grad buttons at that time. Thanks!

We can't always get to Disney when the actual date comes around and Disney understands that. Get your button and be proud!

We plan to get 3 in our group. A belated "I'm Celebrating" to honor my daughter's early graduation last year (we had to cancel that trip, but it was still the original reason for going to DLR), a birthday button for me (we'll be there about a week before the actual date), and a first trip button for my mom. The dates don't have to be exact - it's the celebration that matters! :-)

I don't think I have seen grad buttons (there are very cute grad ears though!) but you could always get the "I'm celebrating" button.

As another poster mentioned....if you are celebrating a special occasion at DLR, then get a button, it does not mean that the occasion is on the exact day. It is the fact that you are celebrating that matters.

I have seen the graduation buttons, I actually think they ran out of them later this summer so maybe they are seasonal.

Yep, there are "Just Graduated" buttons! I got mine in June as well, so don't worry, I'm sure there'll be some! (The very nice CM who was engraving my leather bracelet in Frontierland actually gave me the button after I told her I was graduating!)
