In-laws anniversary is the night we go to Ohanas. If I ask will they do something special for them? Should I call or wait until we get there?

Good luck! We tried to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday there 2 years ago. We had a horrible experience with the celebration and would never opt to celebrate there again. (Although, we do go back because we LOVE the food and atmosphere.)

When we got there we told the hostess that it was my daughter's birthday. The hostess said that they didn't do anything for birthdays. When we were seated, another hostess noticed her birthday button and told us that they would sing 'Happy Birthday' and bring her a cupcake. We thought this would be fun. However, when the waitress brought out the cupcake she literally plopped it down in front of my daughter, told her that she didn't sing, and walked away. On the way out, we noticed that they had a man playing a ukelele and he was visiting tables singing to people celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. We felt because of our timing, my daughter was slighted. They probably wanted to clear the table and seat another paying customer.

As I said, this is a usually a very fun restaurant and we blame this foiled celebration on poor service. This could of happened anywhere. I hope your celebration turns out!

I would call in advance, tell the hostess at the podium, tell the hostess that seats you, and tell your waitress. Also, if you see the man with the ukelele, ask your waitress if he can visit your table for the celebration.
