If any of you that are in the park regularly could please snap a pic of the special diet menus if you’re at them I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!!

DCA
Award wieners
Boardwalk pizza & pasta
Lucky cookery
cozy cone 3 (chili)

DL
French market
Bengal bbq
Blue bayou
Jolly holiday
The 2 Tomorrowland restaurants (DH request)
Plaza inn

I’ll be at Blue Bayou mid week next week & will try to remember to snap a pic for you of the allergy menu! (Don’t see us at any of the others sorry.)

FWIW I find those menus to be a starting point. We commonly change things around because we usually don’t like the sides paired with dishes. The chef will work with you on that if you want something but aren’t sure if you can have it.

Watching with interest, especially for Award Wieners. I've never eaten there. I had one of the 'allergy dogs' at Coke Corner and it was absolutely VILE and put me off ordering any hot dog anywhere at DL ever again!

Just by the by, the GF pot roast (with gravy!) at Plaza Inn is scrumptious! And one evening when I was feeling a wee bit peckish I stopped by and just had a 'helping' of the potatoes and gravy. Hit the spot.

For BB, depending on your allergy/-ies, the special menu may or may not help. I often find that the special menu is informative since it lists the allergens contained in the dishes, but usually I just speak with the server or a chef about customizing something on the regular menu.

Thanks everyone! I was just hoping to have a few more ideas in mind for the kids. Great tips on talking to the chef and adjusting their menu. My kids have so many allergies I usually can cobble up something. And of course we will bring food. Just placed a huge amazon order.

Our most surprising allergy find is that they have an allergy pizza at Pizza Port. My egg/milk/peanut allergic girl can have pizza with Daiya cheese. It's also on a GF crust (if that is one of the allergies). The allergy pizza isn't on the egg allergy menu, but when they check the binder, it is also egg safe.

Thanks. I emailed them and they were no help. The kids are allergic to over 4 things. Probably more but we haven't done the allergy testing yet. In April after we get home.

Well, shoot! I'm so sorry they weren't helpful. Remember that you can always call if you feel that perhaps they weren't as helpful as they might have been to see if you can get better help from a 'live person'. (I'm just coming off with a bad experience with a ShopDisney order and emailing did no good. I called and it was all cleared up in a trice.)

Thanks. They responded with a form letter. ???

So it's like an auto-response that said "Sorry, you have too many allergies"? Wow. I think I'd try calling if I were you!

I emailed Special Diets a few weeks ago about something and they called me with the information I was requesting. I just looked at my call log and I think this is the number they called from. At any rate, it's the only Anaheim number in my call log. It may just be some generic DL switchboard number, you know how huge phone systems can be! The number that shows up on caller ID isn't always the dept you've been called by! Give it a try, the worst thing that can happen is that it's not the right number or that they confirm that the email is correct.

(714) 781-4669

Just don't tell them where you got the number. :rolleyes1

I can't say anything about food stands as all that food is pretty much just one recipe or I would assume possibly prepackaged so I can't really comment on the ingredients, but my dad is diabetic and my mom has dietary concerns and sit down restaurants in Disneyland has been amazing!!!! We have eaten at most Disneyland sit down restaurants and the waiters/waitresses have been very helpful making suggestions and have even had the chefs com out on numerous occasions to discuss food with my parents to where special dressings and such were created just for them at no extra charge. Honestly I can't say enough about how accommodating Disney is if you just ask.

Counter service chefs come out too.

With multiple allergies and sensitivities, I've found it helpful (and a lot easier than repeatedly explaining) to have a printed card or sheet (laminated or in a sheet protector) that I can show to the servers and chefs at the CS and TS restaurants. I list my allergies by severity, my sensitivities by severity, and also my reliably safe foods. That way, the chefs not only know what to avoid, but they know what will work. Many times, it's just easier to point to the safe list and ask, "Do you have any of these? What can you do with them? All these things are a go!" While it can be overwhelming sometimes to be slammed with a list of "don't use this" and "can't have that," there hasn't been an instance yet where a chef at DLR has been stumped by the safe list.

4 allergies each person, or 4 allergies total? Honestly, pretty much every place should be able to accommodate. I have 30+ IgE documented allergies plus mast cell disease that causes me to react to most foods. At this point, I really only eat chicken, rice, rice pasta, and potatoes. But before the mast cell got that severe, we did multiple trips with my IgE allergies and some additional sensitivities which turned out to be mast cell.

We did:
Storytellers Cafe
Cafe Orleans (before my fish and shellfish allergy)
Pizza port
Carnation Cafe
Goofy kitchen
Bengal BBQ
Carthay circle
PCH grill
Flo’s V8 Cafe
Galactic grill (I think that’s the one we went to)
Golden Vine Winery
Plaza inn
Rancho Del Zocolo
Smokejumpers grill (used to be something else)

I have never called ahead about my allergies at DL or WDW

These days, I don’t really eat at any restaurant. I take the time to go to first aid and nap while my friends and family go eat (I am on TPN during the day so I eat at the hotel before we leave in the morning and when we get back after closing)

But when I was eating at restaurants, we always brought index cards that listed all of my allergies. Made enough for each meal so that we didn’t have to remember to get them back. The chefs at TS restaurants and the managers at QS really appreciated that in both DL and WDW.
