Is anyone watching the WDW show? Why does the carousel look so close to the castle? I know that there is a long hallway through the castle and you usually can't see the carousel on the other side that easily. Maybe they moved it? I'm I the only one who sees this or is it that my meds haven't kicked in this morning?!? :teeth:

DH & I were just talking about that. They must of moved any items that were obstructing the view through the castle. Also, best we can figure the platform Kelly & Regis are on must be at least several feet off the ground. That way you get the castle as your sole backdrop and nothing else.

I think the camera they are using makes the castle look much closer than it is. When Regis & Kelly were sitting, it looked like it was right behind them even though they are in Town Square. The carousel is straight through the castle on the other side.

You must be right. Although the carousel is straight through the castle, as you know, it's about 30-40 yards beyond. It actually looks like it's inside the castle. Hollywood smoke and mirrors, you gotta love it!

The cameras they are using have fairly long focal-length (telephoto) zooms. Shooting at a long focal length makes everything along the z axis (near to far) appear closer together, just like shooting through a wide-angle lens makes that axis appear longer (that's why photographing a room with a W/A makes it look larger).

I think they are using some interesting digital techniques. They are located right at the beginning of the Mainstreet... Cant wait to hear reports from Dis'ers...

This is exactly what I was about to say. Telephoto lens.

Example: Go to the train station deck, point the camera to the castle, zoom in until the castle fills the entire photo. Go back and view on the computer and WOW that thing looks HUGE! much morso than taking a close photo.

The stage is where the flag pole is when you enter MK. They built the stage to a height that is equal to the Castle stage so it looks much closer.

Thank you, I had asked on another thread how it was set up. This does make it more understandable.

I was wondering this this morning as well. At first it was going round and round and looked like no one was on it. Then it didn't go around anymore after that.
