We're going on a multi-family trip and we've tried to arrange for each couple/family to have alone time and time with each other family. The one combo we don't have is for me, DH, and DS (who will be 28 months old) to do something with my parents. Ideas for something we could do for somewhere between 2 hours and a half-day? We don't want to do another character meal (already doing 3). Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything that's terribly entertaining for a child that young.

Honestly, when mine were that age, their favorite thing was playing in the fountains that squirt out of the ground at Epcot and Downtown Disney. It may not br warm enough for that on your trip, though.

Don't know if you will have a car, but maybe Legoland?
That new Duplo section looks really cute.

Other than that, maybe the Rafiki Wildlife part of AK with the petting zoo?

No car. The petting zoo is a good idea.

We may suck it up and do Hollywood & Vine. He adores Doc and Fia.

Honestly, we just got back and Hollywood and Vine was my 26month olds favorite part of the trip. She sat down and ate, then pretty much was out of her seat, dancing with the characters which is what she loved. The characters would stop going table to table every 15 min or so and do a little dance party, conga line type thing. She LOVED it!! I thought they did something similar at Ohana for breakfast, but they didnt.... only the characters came around, no dancing!

When mine were that age they really loved the aquarium section of the Living Seas in Epcot. We also ate at the Coral Reef restaurant which always was a big hit for them. We tried to get a very early sitting time.
My son loved the train in the MK and could have done that all afternoon if we let him. My daughters really enjoyed any fountain type areas that they could play in.
I also second the Rafiki's Planet Watch, they all loved this area.

We scrimped and saved to take a trip to WDW when my DD was about that age. She would have spend the entire day playing in the coke cup stair well at all star sports. She was absolutely mesmerized by that coke cup! Her second favorite thing? Riding the bus to the resort. My DS who was 6 at the time loved how the toilet flushed with a button on top and it would get "sucked down" so fast. I am so glad I spent all that money for their favorite things LOL! We talk about it almost every trip!

You might consider taking the boat from MK to Fort Wilderness & taking your child on a pony ride at the ranch. It's very inexpensive :)

I second this suggestion. There is also small petting zoo and usually some peacocks hanging around. And a beach to play in the sand (no swimming though)

I would plan to hit whatever park is on the agenda that day and do some of the rides and activities geared toward younger kids. At that age, your son will most likely be happy just having fun with the family and doing whatever is planned.
