Are there special fireworks at MK only on the 4th of July and then they go back to the regular fireworks or do they do something special for a few days afterwards? Are there special fireworks at Epcot too? We may be able to do a quick 3 day trip around the 4th and am doing my planning homework. We will be off-site at HGVC International Drive; DH (not a WDW enthusiast), DD12 and DS15. Our last visits were in late May, early August, late August, early October and late October We have never been there over the 4th, I know to expect crowds but don't know how bad it will be.

We've gone on the 4th several years in a row. The MK does the "Fourth of July: Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks on the 3rd and 4th. Last year we went to the MK on the 3rd. On the 4th we caught the MGM fireworks (which are a rarity), which are an hour before Epcot's. We then walked the path to Epcot and caught those. They are all very very awesome! And, yes, they are all special on those nights. Yes, is will be extremely crowded, but if you just accept that and go for the experience of the fireworks, you'll be fine. We usually just walk around and maybe get a snack before the fireworks--we never plan on actually riding anything from afternoon on. Enjoy!

They may have a test run on July 3 for the MK show, but it'll be back to Wishes on the 5th.

MK does a superb show that includes simultaneous launches from the normal launch spot (behind the Magic Kingdom) and an island in the Seven Seas Lagoon, in addition to some shells being launched from the perimeter of the park (making the area between the TTC and the Polynesian a far better spot to watch the show than the park itself, since you only see a fraction of it from within).

Epcot does a regular showing of Illumninations followed immediately by a transition to a July 4 tag/finale, which is also quite spectacular (be sure NOT to sit downwind though, or you won't see much).

The Studios (usually) do a version of Sorcery in the Sky. I heard it got changed a few years ago, but if it's anything like what I saw on July 4 2002 (I think it was), it was a very, very good show as well. It also has twop parts - a normal show set to film tunes and a July 4 encore.

You can see two shows on the same day if you feel adventurous and don't mind rushing a bit - well worth it for this occasion IMHO, since shows of this magnitude are only presented on July 4 and December 31.

We love to go to WDW for the fireworks on the 4th of July and New Years Eve. As another poster stated the 3rd of July fireworks are just as spectacular. We usually watch MK fireworks show on the 3rd and 4th.
