hi we're going to orlando 20/12 for 2 weeks spending first ever holiday away from home at Christmas. Its a special holiday planned for my 14 year old son who has recovered from cancer for the second time in his life! This time bone tumour in leg. I'm worried about what I've read regarding the crowds and admissions to theme parks. We've booked Christmas lunch at Liberty palace but what if we can't get in to MK on Christmas Day? Also any suggestions would help as son can walk but may get tired.

Welcome to the DIS. If you are planning on MK on Christmas day you will need to get there early. Once the park is closed because of capacity you won't be about to get in even though you have a reservation for lunch. You will have a great time, just relax and try not to do too much because of the crowds.

That will be one of the busiest days of the year at the Magic Kingdom. Please get there early of you won't get in for your lunch reservation. I have heard that they closed MK as early as 11am to new visitors. It would be too bad if you missed your lunch. The good part is that if you can take it easy until Jan.2, the crowds will go way down, and you have an enjoyable time.

Because it is especially crowded on Christmas day (and throughout the holiday period) and negotiating the crowds would tire anyone out easily, Disney offers wheelchairs or you can bring your own to use.

What a very special trip! I hope you, your son and your family have a very magical holiday. It is absolutely beautiful and you definitely get the feeling that you've left the real world behind.
