I am new here, so I apologize if this has been covered. We are heading to WDW for a surprise Halloween trip including MNSSHP on Halloween night. The trip was initiated by my FIL and his insistence that he NEEDED to take our 5yo, and his only granddaughter, to BBB. So, that is happening. On Halloween. No Halloween costume will ever live up to the standard that is being set this year. But, oh well.

My issue is I can't find any sort of thing to do with the boys (10 and 12) that would be equivalent - not the same, I know they can go be turned into pirates (not something either would care for) to the BBB experience. It seems like Disney is packed with great options for girls (I am thinking of BBB and then the things like the ring carvers and the pick a pearl, stuff like that) but I can't seem to find something similar for the boys. I was thinking about the Animal Kingdom Dine with an Animal Specialist, but that would really only appeal to my 10yo. Any other ideas out there??? Thanks in advance!

They have archery lessons at Wilderness Lodge. And the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Cruise. They may be a bit old for that though.

Shopping spree at either the Star Wars store or the Marvel store?

I will look at the fireworks cruise. They already do archery, so that's not much of a treat, but that is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for!

I have tried really hard to do "pre-souveniring," or that is what I am calling it. We always come home with a bunch of junk that ends up lost or broken, so this year they are getting new shirts for each park day before the trip and I made penny pressing kits and autograph books. We are bringing an instant print camera so they can add pictures to autographs or their Sorcerers cards or what ever else they feel like they need to add to their book (more of an on the go scrap book than an autograph book, I suppose. I also got them each a starter pin trading set and they can pick a new pin at each park. Long story short, a shopping spree is at the bottom of my list! Haha! I am really looking more for experiences they can have.

Maybe a trip to the mini golf, or Splitsville in Disney Springs? Renting a boat or doing a fishing excursion? Amphicars at Disney Springs? Caring for Giants tour at AK?

What are the Amphicars?? I just found Caring for Giants today and I think that looks awesome. Have you ever done that??

LongLiveRafiki posted great pics of the amphicars - I think they look super cool!

I have not done the Caring for Giants tour, but it's on my "to do" list! I know my boys would have gotten a kick out of it (they still would!). We are Animal Kingdom people ::yes::

The virtual Star Wars experience mentioned above would be a good idea too. My boys think a good extra special activity is being able to sleep in and go to the pool all day, LOL!! It would be extra special b/c I'm a rope dropping park goer, and they're 13 and 15 and like down time (especially the 15 year old).

Enjoy your trip, it sounds like it will be a blast no matter what!

We (me, DH, DS11, DS15) did a couple of the things that PPs mentioned while there in April.

Caring for Giants is great. It is interesting to be taken behind the scenes and you really do feel like you are getting special time to observe and learn about the elephants.

My boys loved the Void Star Wars VR experience at Disney Springs- it was very cool!!! If they like Star Wars, that would be a great outing special for them.

My boys loved the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game when they were that age. You can take them to get the cards and work your way through the game.

The Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is on my list for them! We are going to MNSSHP on Halloween so looking forward to the special cards!

We did Star Wars Fireworks dessert party (DS also got to make his own light saber beforehand) and fishing excursion (DH and DS did around Epcot, but you can also do Bay Lake).

At 10 and 12 they might like a special day at Universal without their kid sister taging along.

My boys loved the Epcot Aqua Seas Adventure. It was fun getting to snorkel in the aquarium. I also think the Virtual Reality Star Wars thing in Disney Springs would be a hit. We all enjoyed it.
