Hi all,

I was wondering whether there are any special events on at Easter in the parks. Last time (and only time) we've been to WDW it was Christmas and our 'holiday of a lifetime' so we splashed out on MVMCP, Hoop Dee Doo, CRT & Beasts Castle, Fantasmic Package. We are very lucky enough to be able to come again to WDW in Easter 2016 and am wondering what special events we might be able to schedule? I have two little girls (4yrs and 6yrs) and am already excited to look into booking BBB for my youngest (oldest is more of a tom boy!).

Any suggestions welcomed!

Thanks all xxx

Nope, nothing special at Easter. Well, nothing Easter related. The Flower and Garden Festival will be going on, but other than that, nothing specific to that time of year.

Yea really nothing for Easter. They used to have an Easter parade years ago but I'm sure those that don't celebrate Easter complained, so it's no more.

Really only thing I believe is some on site hotels might have Easter egg hunts, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Really nothing as far as parks go though

I'm sure there are people who don't celebrate Christmas, but that hasn't stopped Disney from doing a Christmas parade.

We were at MK on Easter Sunday this year and the girls in the colorful dresses (the ones that used to appear in the Easter Parade) came out around 10 AM and stationed themselves around the Main Street and Hub area for pictures. Before the FOF parade at noon (there were 2 that day) they had an abbreviated version of the old Easter Parade with the girls in the dresses (walking to the tune of "in Your Easter Bonnet") and a few other floats. Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny were also available for pictures in Town Square. That may have gone on for a while before Easter, but I think the parade stuff was just on Easter Sunday.

At EPCOT they had some large "Easter Eggs" depicting characters placed at each of the pavilions. I think that ended on Easter Sunday too.

Nothing major like they have for the Christmas season, but there are a few small touches.

We were there April 1-10 this year.

You can meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter bunny at MK. That starts about a week or so before Easter sunday.

Epcot does an easter egg hunt in World Showcase. The eggs are huge. Each country has one, and you can pay to get a map ($5) and place the correct sticker for each country. Then you turn it in and get a small prize. The last day for this, I think, was Easter sunday.

Both the Contemporary and the Grand Floridan had gorgeous decorated chocolate eggs on display. We did the Contemporary before Easter, and then the GF after. I think the eggs were on display until April 10th, which was the Friday after Easter.

We stayed at the WL. Easter morning, Mrs. Easter Bunny and Mickey and Minnie (dressed up in their Easter finest) did a meet and greet in the morning. Then they did a "candy scramble." Basically just a bunch of candy in roped off areas (divided up by age) and you can grab as much candy as you want. I have some great pics of Minnie helping my youngest DS put candy in his bag. They had Easter crafts after that as well.

Our resort also sold pre-made Easter baskets, or you could buy a basket for $7 and then fill it with whatever items you wanted (you had to pay for the items, but you could bring stuff from home if you wanted) and they wrap it up. We had the option of picking up that basket at a certain time, or, what we did, was WL CM's delivered the baskets Easter morning between 6-8am. They dropped the baskets off at our door, knocked, and then ran away. So when my kids opened the door, their baskets were just there. The CMs hid further down the hall to make sure you open the door and grab your baskets.

This was our first Easter/Spring Break trip and we loved it. You'll have extended park hours, which are needed. We did 7am MK early EMH three times and got so much done! Even though it was a bit strange to be in the MK before sunrise! We also did 7am early EMH at DHS and AK. The MK late EMH were really late, but we didn't do those. Even the normal closing times for MK were really late.

Hey Skuttle, we were at the WL villas from April 4-11.

We didn't see the morning Easter activities because we were at the MK at 7 AM that day, and my adult daughters are too old for the candy dash anyway. They did that a few times many years ago when we stayed at the Poly and I'm glad they still do things like that. Wilderness Lodge is wonderful and that was a great week.

It was a great week! We decided not to brave the easter crowds that day! We did head to DHS Easter evening for Fantasmic, though! My kids came home with three bags full of candy from the candy scramble. There weren't a whole lot of people out there and there was a TON of candy! My kids had fun. There was so much candy, my oldest was able to take his time and be picky about they type of candy he picked up. LOL!

We stayed at CSR and had the same type of activities. It was a great day to spend at the resort. We had Mickey and Minnie at the candy scramble, tons of candy here too! We also had an easter egg hunt. All of the activities were easter themed that day. Like my DD made a sand art egg necklace and colored an egg magnet. The prizes at the pool party were also Easter focused, like my DD got a stuffed bunny. Also, the gift shop at their own "egg hunt" a couple of days prior to Easter. If you found an egg you got a prize and my DD got a pin, so that a good surprise. We also did the egg hunt in EPCOT. It was really fun for the kids to find all of the eggs. We had Easter brunch at Boma and they did the giant chocolate eggs as well as a candy station so when you left you got a little treat bag. All in all we had the best time and can't wait to go back next year. Just for reference, we were at WL on Xmas last year and they had less xmas activities at the resort. So I think xmas is more decor and park focused. Easter seemed to be more resort focused.

Seriously? Sure, the non-Christians did it. WDW has cut back on parades and entertainment in all the parks for the past five years or so. Was that because people complained about too much entertainment?

You are not going to see something like an special Easter Party leading up to the Holiday since its an already busy time of the year. So its not needed to draw in the crowds and the crowds already there would complain if the MK closed early.
