My husband has high cholesterol and as a result of that, we found out he has fatty liver disease as well. The doctor is asking him to try to control it through diet alone right now.

I know Disney is amazing for people with special dietary needs, but does high cholesterol count as a special dietary need? Is this something a server or chef could help us out with, or are we on our own to make choices? Thanks for any help!!

I would think that a chef could tell you if something is cooked in butter:)

looking up menus and making choices as where to eat would help too-

Like at Toyko Dining they make me a beautiful grilled chicken breast with steamed veggies and rice-

BUT I would avoid places like Biertgarten- Sausages are NOT healthy:)
most CS have salads- I think the new veggie burgers are gross-
if in doubt on how a dish is prepared I would ask so you could make the right choices. and stay away from foods that are cooked *wrong*

Have a great time:)

I would note it on the table service ressie but you would need to be more specific about what you are looking to avoid - something like "lowfat" or no-fat, etc.

Likely the chef could prepare items for you at your arrival if you need lower fat items - but I'm just guessing at what your needs actually are.

All the restaurants have low fat options (even the Biergarten!)
If you look in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, there is contact information for special diets and/or allergies. They would be able to help with your questions.
For the Table Service restaurants, you should be able to get information from the server or from the chef at that restaurant.

Have them note that he is low cholesterol diet on reservations. The menus usually tell you what items are in the dish. It is up to you to get from the doctor a list of prohibited foods and foods that are to be eaten in moderation.

This site has menus so you can look at them and see what there is available. Chefs can make changes for you as needed and you can contact special diets for information. The chefs are very good at meeting almost any dietary needs.

:goodvibes Yes but the temptation to eat BAD at the Biergarten:scared1:
Seriously though hubby reminded me of friends who went with us and she was on that Ali pill to lose weight and could only eat very little fat
and the chef there made her nice chicken and veggies.

But OOOh those sausages that i can't eat anymore:)
I think I'd stay away from the fish and chip CS at Epcot too:)
