DD is 18 today - am I a bad mom? A couple of people have asked me what her "special" gift is. We haven't done that - a piece of jewelry, a special momento, etc. She's getting clothes & "fun" jewelry, the usual stuff. She did get a lovely prom dress during our Dallas shopping trip this weekend. But nothing "memorable" to mark this milestone b-day.

Did you do something special for your teens? Please don't tell me I should make her a scrapbook - I am not good at that! Any ideas?

We got luggage for our 18th...I think it was a hint! :rotfl2:

Luggage is a great idea!

Bumping for others...

I didn't really get anything "special" for my 18th birthday last year. My parents got me a digital camera, but I think it was more because that was the only thing I wanted than that it was my 18th birthday. I don't really think any of my friends got anything major, either. I did get jewelry and luggage from my grandmothers for graduation presents. I would think "special" gifts would be more expected for that than for a birthday, but that's just me. :confused3

I read an article that said a very popular 18th birthday gift these days is breast implants. LOL

When my daughter turned 18 we gave her 18 gifts! Nothing huge, but there were 18 of them. She got a kick out of that. Let me remember a few of them: I gave her a pair of gold earrings, a few shirts, gas cards, restaurant cards for places that were near her college she was heading too, and Publix food cards. Each thing was indiviually wrapped and bowed. She loves bows! Plus we did the regular stuff -- dinner out at your favorite restaurant and cake at home with candles. I make her a cake for every birthday. My mother still makes me a cake, so I guess I will continue doing it too! :cake:
