Hello everyone!

I wasn't sure if anyone was still reading the Makeup & Hair Tips in the Parks thread, and was hoping someone could give me advice.....

I'm 26 years old and have had a major acne problem for quite a few years now. Due to this, I have pretty bad scars on my cheeks. I'm more of a natural girl, but usually have to wear pretty heavy makeup to cover the scars up.....

I don't want to have to wear heavy foundation, etc. to the parks, cause my skin is oily and it just melts off in the heat. (which often causes worse breakouts)

I don't mind having the scars show a little bit, but I want some kind of coverage. I heard someone mention a tinted moisturizer.....I've never tried this, would that maybe be a good option for me?

Any advice?? Help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

I don't really know for sure, but I have kinda oily skin too, and a moisturizer would not be good for me to wear in the heat. Maybe a light coverup kind of makeup. I have a big cover stick the color of my skin that is really awesome to blend discolorations etc. into the rest of my skin. I don't know if they still sell them as I've had mine for years, but it works really well for me when I want light makeup. It's Loreal and called Quick Stick Foundation. If you can find the same skin tone as you like mine is it might work for you.

Have you tried Bare Minerals? I have rocesea that has left my face.. um, I guess you would call it bumpy. It is not smooth like other people's but very rough and bumpy. Bare Minerals covers that up without irritating it or causing me to break out. It comes with one brush that is for extra coverup and that is what I use along my cheeks and nose.

I use Arbonne Bronzing powder in the parks. Adds some color, etc, but isn't heavy. Other than that, sorry, I don't wear any in the parks. I hope you find something that works for you!

Have you tried a good self-tanner? I have very fair skin, but I can use L'Oreal Sublime in Dark and it looks very natural and has very little of the self-tanner odor. It definitely helps camoflage skin problems.

A drier makeup would work better for you rather than liquid. For your acne, try Proactiv. I never had a skin problem until I was 25. I started breaking out and I was freaking out! My dermotologist prescribed me everything under the sun, both oral and topical, but nothing worked that well. I was watching an infomercial one night and I was really skeptical, but they offer a money-back guarantee. I tried it and within a week my breakouts were over. I've used it ever since and I can't live without it. I rarely even have one pimple on my face. It is wonderful! Google Proactiv fo their site.

Proactiv might work, but don't use only Proactiv when you will be in the sun.
It burns your skin right a way. So you have to use sunprotection as well.

Cinderella, which Proactiv products do you use?

When are you going to WDW?

I am reading Dr. Denese's book about Anti-Aging and it makes a load of sense. I have great skin, but will soon be getting wrinkles and I want to avoid as much as possible. I also get a dark patch when I lay in the sun. Her book covers all of these issues and is informative.

Acne scars will show through light powders and colored foundations. You may need to fix the problem instead of masking it.

She recommends her own brand as well as, others to rid away scars. Glycolic Pads are a great start.

See if you can obtain her book before investing in any products.

Best wishes. :flower:

i use proactiv as well as bare minerals. I have mild to moderate acne problems, more mild than moderate. the proactiv really keeps problems to a minimum.
I find that if i don't wear makeup, my skin is more oily, and more prone to problems because there is no protective, oil absorbing product on my face. So, if i didn't wear make-up everyday, i'd have much worse problems than I already do. The bare minerals are light enough, but still offer enough coverage and protection for my skin, that I am much better off using them than not.

the two, used together work great for me.

I just got my 18 year old DD the bare minerals and she LOVES it! It looks very natural on her too. I am thinking of trying it myself!

When I read the OP's post Bare Minerals was the first thing I thought of, I think it will work much better than a liquid base in the Orlando heat.

Do any stores carry Bare Minerals or is it just a QVC thing? I've been reading about it so much on here I'd like to try it but we're going to be at Disney a week from tomorrow.

I got my DD's at Ulta....I don't know how wide spread Ulta stores are though...? But it was nice to go in and try out the shades before buying them. I would suggest that, if you can find them. (and, if you have a store near you, they usually have a 20% off coupon in the Sunday papers :flower: )

Does Bare Minerals cause dryness? I ask because I used another kind of mineral powder before, and though I loved the coverage, it caused a serious case of dryness that I had to stop using it. And I am oily. Bare Minerals may be nicer though. And info is apprecieated :)

Sorry Disney Cakers, I don't know. My DD hasn't been wearing it for very long, but so far it hasn't been a problem. Hopefully someone else can give you more info! I would be interested in knowing too! (I am thinking of getting some for myself! )

I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and I love it. It's not drying, gives decent coverage and it has SPF in it.

I use the three piece kit with an exfoliating scrub, toner and lotion. It's automatically sent two or three times per year. They recommend you use the three step program twice daily, but my skin is too dry so I use it once per day. One kit lasts for a while. My face doesn't burn any worse using it than it did without it. I honestly never noticed a difference, but I always have SPF 15 on my face, year-round.

I use bare minerals and love it but I am not sure how it stands up in the heat (here in NY we have bare escentuals stores so that is where I bought it!!!!) I am 27 and also just began having light acne :confused3 ( I had beautiful skin in high school go figure!)

I noticed a neutrogena product that was a tinted moisturizer which has sunscreen AND stuff for acne...sounds too good to be true! Good Luck! :flower:

Clinique makes 2 products that may help:
Acne Solutions - Concealing cream. It's tinted and it has the acne medication and salicylic acid.
Sheer Matteness - shine control. you wear it under your makeup and it REALLY helps to absorb oils. I have even applied it over through out the day.

You can go to a Clinique counter and try this stuff for free. See how you like it before purchasing!

I also use Bare Minerals, and I first tried them at Ulta - they now have a store near me!! I dont know why but bare minerals doesnt show at ulta.com :confused3

I've read that Bare Minerals actually do better in humid climates - in the winter they do tend to dry out my oily T section, but I do use a great moisturizer - and Bare Minerals has an spf of 15

I also buy ProActive for my teenage sons, and when they use it, it works wonders!! But like a previous poster said, dont use if you're going to be in the sun!

Plus the Bare Minerals eye shadows are so much fun to play with - I finally bought a gold for the top, under my eyebrow... then on the lid of the eye you can try something called "Foiling' where you dip a brush (or Qtip) in water and put on your lid, boy talk about BRIGHT! (its best used with the glimmers)
