Speaking of Referrals...

DH & I bought DVC in May 2006 and friends of ours finally bought in October 2008. We all live in VA by the way.

When our friends bought they gave our name as a referral. They were told we would receive "something" for the referral. Well, months went by and we had not heard anything. So in January 2009 I called and was told first we were not eligible because we lived in VA then I was told "oh no that changed so you are eligible." Ok - so I asked when would we be receiving the gift and was told that if I hadn't heard anything or received anything by the end of February to call them.

Well, here it is the end of March/beginning of April and I called this past Monday and of course had to leave a message. Unfortunately when the person called me back I was away from the phone so they left a message saying "we don't have any record of a referral" and when I called back (about 1/2 hour later) the message on the phone said they were closed for the day for a "special event".

I can't tell you how ticked off I was knowing that this person called me 1/2 before they were going to be closed! So I left a message and am waiting for a return call.

Anyway...has anyone else had this much trouble receiving a gift after a referral? Or am I the only one?

We're in OH and had friends use us as a referral. Never got anything. I gave up trying to figure out why we kept getting all the referral cards but could not get the incentives.

Be persistant. Friends of our bought in on a cruise in Nov 2008 and mentioned our names. Didn't hear anything, so I made a call to my guide in Feb 09. I gave her our friend's guide name, where the bought in, etc. Took a couple of calls, but I finally got my referral bonus.
I think the restrictions on certain states change all the time. PA was one that has gone back and forth.

It usually takes about 3 months after the contract closes for the member to receive the award. It took mine about 6 months, but that was because there was something to be straightened out. Good luck!
