I like it, I do love most old-fashioned names although my most recent post would probably have most people believing otherwise.
However, I do have an aunt by that name and she was often called Witch Hazel and she really hated that. I think you can probably turn any name into a teasing point, though.
I don't love it, but it's not horrible. We ruled out a lot of "old fashioned" names with our baby...our grandmothers are Ethel, Mildred, and Mabel. Compared to those, Hazel is very modern!
I like it! I'm a fan of old fashioned names, though. My oldest daughter's name is Charlotte. I tend to think of that as old fashioned. What middle name would you pair it with?
I absolutely love and adore the name Hazel and so badly want to name one of our girls Hazel but DH has vetoed it.
So we're going with Eleanor Rose and Lillian or Cecilia Ruby -- DH still can't decide. We're slowly getting down to the wire... I think he's just refusing to commit until he can look at them for some silly reason. Like a newborn is going to LOOK like a specific name.
(DD's name is Violet, btw, so old-fashioned seems to be a theme for us)
Hazel, to me, means a well-spoken woman, with a full face of make-up, who greats people kindly and with gifts. My Gramma Hazel was my most favorite person in the whole wide world. She was an actress.
One of my friends named her baby Hazel and that child is now a beautiful nearly six-year old handful of spunk.
I like old fashioned, traditional names, but I hate Hazel. It's in a group with Gladys, Edna and Bertha. I had relatives with some of those names, but would never have passed them on.
I like the name Hazel - I just named my new puppy Hazel, after the old tv show. My Hazel is funny, smart, friendly and has red hair - just like the tv character.
Nope, not a fan. I have an Auntie Hazel who is a wonderful person but I'm still not a fan of the name. And just for the record, my mom's name is Priscilla and my great-grandmother's name was Beulah and I don't like either of those names, either.
