Speaking of alligators...

This fella was in the canal near the bridge on the east side of the campground. You can see the tennis courts in the background of the last one. These were taken over Easter when we were there. This is the first one we have seen inside the campground itself. Our kids were quite excited.

We were on a bus going back to the Beach Club and there were 2 gators in a pond near one of the ramps. The driver pointed the one out and said he had been there for a while and could not understand why he was there and just as he said that he and I both noticed another one in the pond---

Wow...thanks for the photos.

I've stayed in the Fort Wilderness Cabins twice, and both times I kept an eye out for alligators at night. Before I park my (rented) electric cart and plug it in, I always shine my flashlight along the side of the cabin to see if the light reflects off any alligator eyes.

I always wondered if I was being paranoid, but your pictures will keep me alert! (Your photo appeared to be of a small, young alligator...but the Mom and Dad must be around somewhere)

I've seen a couple alligators at Ft. Wilderness. One time we were at the dock getting off a boat from the firework cruise and there was one swimming right at the spot we were unboarding. The cm was actually more excited about seeing it than we were.
We've seen them in the canals while boating/fishing there. Scared me to death!!

If there are any gators in the campground I have a feeling they will have them (legally) removed/relocated. I live in Florida, and I've heard alot of the gators are searching for water since we are low on our water levels. (Course, I'm sure hurricane season will fill us up again.) Really, we are over run with them again. Their population is huge again and its extremely expensive to get a license for the peeps who want to legally hunt them to help reduce the population a little.

This past week, there was a Non-Disney Truck with a man sitting by the pond just off the purple route watching the water. I believe it was a Person looking for gators. Did see one small one in a canal near Epcot when we were on the Monorail. Went looking for them on the trail at Fort Wildreness but the trail seems to be in disrepair as there are two trees down on the bridge, looks like they have been there quite a while too. It was getting late and didn't want to be walking around in the overgrown area near the water (perfect area for gators!) Darn, was hoping to see a bigger gator and a bit closer. Hahahaha

Yikes! We're doing the Disney triathlon in September and it includes a swim in the lake at Ft. Wilderness. I was always concerned about alligators, but figured there's no way they'd let us swim there if there was a problem. Hopefully all those people splashing around will keep them away. As if I didn't have enough to worry about with just trying to cross the finish line!

We've seen a 4 foot gator in the Coronado Springs lake. The CM didn't believe us until we showed him.

We used to live in South Florida and my husband has been fishing and alligators have come up and eaten his catch off the line as he was reeling it in.

I've seen a dalmatian eaten by an alligator that came out of a supposedly alligator free pond in our subdivision. It could have been a kid playing in the yard instead of the dalmatian.

I hate alligators; I think they're vermin, and I don't think they should be allowed anywhere near human populations.

They make nice boots.
