Hiya All,:flower3:

I was just wondering whether anyone knew of any really good Spa's at Disney or whether tha swan and dolphin Spa was any good?!

I want to have some acrylis nails done for my wedding day and was just wondering whether there is anywhere that i can go to get them taken off because i am not sure i want them on for the whole trip?!

Also the day before the wedding i want to go to a spa with all my lady guests, the ideal place would be the swan and dolphin spa because that is where i am getting married and i am staying there the night before the wedding.

Thanks

I think I remember a few not so good experiences at the spa at Swan and Dolphin from reading planning journals.

I'm planning on using the services at the Grand Floridian myself - any reviews on that?

I have some spa time planned at Saratoga Springs in DTD in a couple of weeks so once im back from my trip i can let you know how it went if that helps? :confused3

Thanks everyone for your help!!

Yeah i remember some brides having bad experiences at the swan and dolphin Spa, thats why i am thinking i will not use it!

I had a terrible experience with waxing at the Mandara Spa at the Dolphin. However, I wouldn't let that keep you from getting regular spa treatments there. They are overpriced, but then so are all the spas at Disney. They also do nails, so you might want to call and see if they do acrylics.

If you sign up for a free Starwood Preferred Guest account, you can get a discount on the services at the spa. Or at least I was able to the day I was there. :thumbsup2

There's also Valencia Salon on Wheels (http://valenciasalononwheels.com/site.html). It might be fun to have them come to your room and do the treatments for everyone there. They do nails, but I dunno if that includes acrylics.

I have had 2 wonderful experiences at the spa at the Wyndham hotel across the street from DTD. If you have a car or something I highly recommend them. I think that is where I am going to go for my wedding next year instead of on at Disney. We are staying at OKW leading up to the wedding and we will have a car so it will only be a 5-10 min drive.

I have been to the spa at Saratoga on 3 different occasions, and it was very nice. (I wasnt' there for the VR, but just to have services) The treatments were all A+.

Good luck

Grand Floridian has an awesome spa!!

To remove the nails, all you need is some acetone and someone to "buff" off the excess acrylic

I'm not sure if you ever had acyrlic nails before, but I will never do them again. I had them once for my senior prom, and after I had them soaked off, my nails were damaged and had dents in them.

I considered having acyrlics and then having them soaked off the day after the wedding, but I didn't want to deal with the damage again. :headache:

I have thin, brittle nails naturally so I purchased Nailtiques from CVS and I have been faithfully applying a coat everyday. My nails have been growing out and I intend to keep them up so that I can treat myself to a manicure when I'm there. Because of the nature of my nails, I don't expect them all to be perfect, so I'm just going to get a very delicate coat of nailpolish as to not draw attention to them (whereas if I got a french manicure)

It's up to you, of course, but I just recently got over thinking that everything has to be perfect. :goodvibes I'm not trying to convince you not to get them, but it sounds like you don't like them either so just wanted to give you something else to consider.

Like the PP, I also had acrylics (once). They virtually destroyed my nails. I will not have them again. Even for the wedding, I am just going to have them done without acrylics. I am a total perfectionist, so I did think about this a little, but decided that they would still look great!

I had a pedicure done at the GF spa once, and it was great. Painful the next day, but great!

hahaha..i haven't seen my nails since 1986!! I have had acrylics that long

I actually had my nails (acrylics) done at Periwigs at the Beach club before the wedding...they did an awesome job and because they are a salon not a spa it was a bit cheaper.

As for spas I really liked the mandara spa.Dh and I had a massage the morning after our wedding. We were staying at the BW so it was just convenient to walk over. I didn't thinking taking 2 buses (or bus and monorail or spending another $50 on cab) there and back would be relaxing:rotfl: I also like the GF spa but I had a bad pedi there. Not really "bad" but considering the price I did think it was anything special. This past weekend Dh and I had a couple's massage there and loved it. I have not tried SSR yet although I want to try their famous peppermint pedi.

i liked that the GF used new files and sticks and gave them to me when they were done

(carrie..i am stalking you)

Hi all,:hippie:

Thank you for all your replies, they are a great help. :grouphug:

Yeah i have had acrylics before but they take a little while getting used to them...i didnt want to have to worry about them while i am going on all the rides.

To be honest they did damage my nails a little bit.

I think i will try and grow my nails as much as mucher and keep applying protective nail varnish to try and stop me catching any.

If it comes to it and my nails are really short i have the acrylics put on!

Decisions Decisions...you wouldnt have thought i have still got a year to go!!:rotfl:

Hee hee!! Got to be prepared!!!!

 I've been looking for a link just like this, thanks!! Do you have a similiar one for the spa at the Grand Floridian? :rotfl: You're so resourceful!

At the top where all the tabs are, you'll see the locations tab. If you move your mouse over it, a listing of the different resorts (one of them is the GF!) will show up!

HTH!:goodvibes
