Spanning two rate seasons

When your stay spans from the value season into the peak season does your room rate always stay at the cheaper amount for the length of stay? I remember that being the case.

You rate is always what the rate was for the first night of your stay. Since the seasons are moving from value to peak it's best to book one ressie. If the seasons were changing in the opposite direction, peak to value, it'd be better to book two ressies with the split on the day of the season change.
