So, I'm trying to get rid of my spam email because in a week I got over 800 messages. I deleted all of those and now as they trickle in I'm doing whatever it says to be removed from the mailing list. A lot of them are sending a blank email to some address. I've been doing that, but most of them came back undeliverable... :confused3 Now what?

Unfortunately, when you send an unsubscribe message to a spammer all that it does is let them know that your email address is a real one. That leads to even more spam! I think that the best thing to do with spam is just ignore it and delete it! A lot of web based email servers (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, etc) have really good spam filters that delete a lot before they even get to you but I don't know if there's any way to totally get away from it. Personally, I've set my inbox to exclusive so only email addresses in my address book come right to my inbox, everything else goes to my junk folder.
Good luck in your fight against spam! :sunny:

Do not respond to the "Remove me from your list" links unless you are sure the spam came from a reputable company. In most cases, doing so will not only confirm that your email address is valid, but that you actually took the time to open the email. This makes your email address very valuable indeed for spammers, and you will soon begin to receive even more spam.

So now I'm really screwed :rotfl:
At least gmail makes it easy to delete.
What about my mom's email? She uses Juno and when you check your mail the first message automatically opens and it's usually spam. There isn't a spam box on it.

In most cases, they wont know you read it if you don't respond to it. However, if its possible to turn off the auto preview function, I would do so. I don't know how Juno works, but there is some rick of a worm or trojan horse that you incurr siomply by opening one of these things. Its not a big deal, but I would turn it off.

kk, thanks for helping. I'll play around and see if there is an option like that. A lot of the stuff she gets is for loans and financing and has links to click on, so I don't think they'd be messing with the computer, but ya never know..
