Spaceship Earth

I just read in the mousesavers letter that Spaceship Earth will be closed from 7/9/07 - 11/1/07. We will be there in September That is my favorite ride and the first thing we do when we get to the world. I am so disappointed I could just cry.

We get to the World on the 7th and didnt have plans to go to EPCOT until the 9th, but my 7 yr old DS insists that we go to EPCOT before then so we can ride it, "since it wont be open the rest of the trip". He loves that ride.

Wow that sucks my boyfriend made plans for us to go to Disney during my b-day week which is the week of 7/24/07. Now im mad that when we go we can't ride it. Thats is my favorite ride especially if you wanna end a stressful day you know like when your done walking around world showcase. I always went on there before we leave the park. Now I can't Why is it gonna be closed?

I think we've all experienced the let down when a ride is down for refurbishment. I know I have! But in the end you may enjoy it more. It's just not the same anymore. You can't hear the narration because it's all scratchy. Even if it were perfect, you wouldn't be able to hear it because of all the squeaking, clanking and clunking that goes on from the vehicles and the track.

Even the Mansion going down this summer - as much as I'd miss it if I were going, I'd prefer to miss it once and have it working beautifully the next time than to ride it in the sad state it's in now. Same issues over at Spaceship Earth are happening at the Haunted Mansion too.

I've been disappointed for a while that this one will be closed while we're there (Sept). But, like the previous poster said, I'm looking forward to the new ride....although I won't get to experience it for another year or two until we can make it back! Part of me loves the nostalgia of those old rides, but another part of me is excited for the new stuff. And, my son will think the new ride is nostalgic when he gets older since that's the only one he'll know! The current ride is probably kind of lame for kids today!

I am really upset about SE too. We'll be there in August and between that and HM, two of the best rides in the whole resort are down. It's a bummer but it's not like there isn't enough to do with them!!

If the refurb is on schedule, it will re-open before our trip. But I understand where you are all coming from. Last year, we were there during the Test Track refurb. We were so disappointed because I'd never gotten a chance to ride the first time I went to WDW and Test Track didn't exist last time hubby had been to WDW. Thankfully, it does look to be open this time, so we are excited.

Just look at it as an excuse to go back.

I know it's going to be great once it reopens. We arrive on July 7 and didn't plan to go to Epcot until later in the week. We will now hit Epcot on July 8 just to ride one more time before the closing. We'll be back in December and can't wait to ride the new and improved version.
