Spaceship Earth Sponsorship By Siemens

Costumesaremylife: The furniture stores in the Northeast were Seaman's. My mother was very confused when I told her Siemens bought our software company, she couldn't understand why a furniture company would be interested in software. :-)

Laura: Some Siemens companies resell IBM products, I'll bet that's what the salesperson meant.

lovetoscrap: Yes, there are supposed to be discounts on tickets and resorts coming for Siemens employees. No details yet, though. Tell your husband to check his e-mail for the letter from the head of Siemens USA that came out last week...the link to the Siemens/Disney site on the intranet is at the bottom of that letter.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there will be a corporate lounge for Siemens employees somewhere at WDW,possibly at SE. :)

Thanks for the info Lynne.

Why does disney wait or need any company to sponsor a ride? Doesn't Disney have enough money to do something with the exit all by themselves?

Siemens should install a "AXIOM Sireskop SD" at the exit along with a beverage dispenser similar to "Ice Station Cool" where the beverages would be various flavors (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, etc) of barium... :rolleyes1

Rides are very expensive to construct and maintain. I think Disney's feeling is, if a company wants to kick in a large chunk of the cost in exchange for some advertising space, why not take it?

I really don't think Epcot could have been built without the corporate sponsorships. I took the Undiscovered Future World Tour on my last trip, and we were told that Epcot cost $1 billion to construct. Disney has loads of money, but I don't think they could have put up that much to build one theme park.

As for the exit of SE, I'm assuming that they're putting in a display of the latest communications technology. A communications company is better equipped to do that, and keep it up to date, than Disney is, IMO.

There already exists a vip lounge in SE as also in the living seas and other pavillions. It is currently used as a meeting room for management. The lounges were built when the attractions were built and is made available to sponsoring companies year round for their employees and visiting guests. Siemens will probably take it over.

AT&T employees used to get VIP entrance to SE. I imagine the same will hold true for the new sponsor.
