Spaced Out Trips

Absolutely, OP.

With flights from the UK rising in cost like crazy, and our wages not having gone up even with the rate of inflation for many years, WDW every year is impossible. When we decided to go next year (2 year gap) we had to realise we couldn't go on holiday this summer gone to make that happen.

We could have gone somewhere this year, but not with WDW next year so we made that choice.

Before I started working in the travel industry, I would only go once a year. But when you get six weeks of vacation a year, and you live on Disney's doorstep, it's hard not to go often. I do go places other than Disney as well - typically two weeks out of the six are spent somewhere other than Disney. Since I get more vacation than most of my friends and family I go solo a lot, so value resort rooms are a nice size, and price, for me. I have an AP, so the admission is already taken care of as well. I can understand why people would rather go every other year and save up to make it extra special. I feel that way about other destinations sometimes too.

I'd love to visit WDW regularly (every couple of years), but the truth is I can rarely afford any type of vacation much less a nice trip to Disney. And I don't blame Disney for that. I'm just not in a financial position to go that often. So there is no plan on when I'll return. I may never go back, or I may go back in a couple years. It really just depends on what's going on in my life and bank account, and where I feel like going if and when I have means to take a vacation again.
I'm just thankful for the upcoming trip.

We can afford to go every year if we choose, but I no longer feel the value is there for the price with a family of 6. We are choosing to space out trips every 2-3 years and explore more of the US (national parks, Washington, D.C., major cities/historical areas).

We go once a year and buy annual passes every other year. So one year we usually go in early December then the next year we go in early November to get 2 trips out of 1 annual pass. This helps bring the cost of park tickets per trip to a manageable amount. This year we actually are taking a few 3 day long weekend as well because of all the airfare wars out of Chicago ($59 one way to Orlando is too good to pass up). We also bought DVC in 2009 so we really haven't been as affected by the huge increases in on-property room prices over the last few years. We consider ourselves lucky that our overall WDW trip doesn't really cost much more than it did 5 years ago....which i know isn't the case for most.

We've gone 4 years in a row now, all different trips, all amazing. AFter this trip DD is adult pricing, so that kind of prices us out of the trips we do. We are looking forward to experiencing a few new things before another trip to the world. Though, we may go with friends, stay at their rental house and do only the MNSSHP next fall, but that's not a Disney trip per say. We want to do England, Mexico (paradisus riveria mya), Smokey Mountains cabin and explore a Canadian province. Then we do want to do a California trip with Disneyland tied in. We've loved Disney, there's been so many memories and amazing times had the last few years, but we are ready to try something new and will look forward to everything new and another magical vacation to the World in the future!

My husband and I recently got married and we are without kids. Our plan was to go every other year because of my obsession with Disney. However, with the increase in prices and the decrease in value, I think I'm going to change it to once every three years at least until some of the Disney parks stop being shells of parks. That being said, I'm actually doing a short trip with my mom this November and a longer trip with my husband in Jan. 2016. One of the things that will decide for me how often we go is how this January trip goes. I'm excited to be there but I'm afraid the magic will be gone and if that is the case then the trips will for sure be spread out.
