Space vs Everest vs rock n roller coaster

........ I no longer will ride Space Mountain. It is just too jerky and my neck always hurts when I get off the ride. My last ride was about 3 years ago and when I got off I said, "That's it, I'm not riding it again" and I have kept my word.

Ditto! Last time I rode SM was two years ago. It's just way too rough on my neck and back and not fun for me.

I LOVE RnRC! It's fun from start to finish. Yes, the take off is a killer, but in a good way. Gives me the same belly jump as going down a big hill on other roller coasters. We love looking the pics of our faces during take off!

EE is fun too, but more "wooden roller coaster" like. There are slow spots going up the hill and waiting for the track to change to go backwards. For me, the backwards part is a little more intense feeling than the quick take off on RnRC. Maybe because you're going backwards longer than the RnRC take off, which is over so quickly.

EE is my favorite of the three - it's the only one that doesn't hurt me in some way and I think the ride is well done with just the right amount of "air". The older I get the more Space hurts my back. That's not going to stop me from riding it but I had to develop a strategy to ride it without getting tossed around in pain. I can no longer ride with my hands up - I have to cross my arms and hold onto the lap bar and I have to brace my legs out straight & stiff to push my tush tight back against the seat. I also prefer to ride as close to the center of the cars as I can get. All this eliminates most of the painful jarring around. I mean it's a CLASSIC - I have to ride it!! RNR has a great start - love it but I find that my head gets bounced around pretty hard in-between the shoulder restraints during the loops. I would never ever cal RNR "smooth" beyond the initial start. I feel like I need to wear earmuffs to cushion my ears from the blows. But I love all the neon and loud Aerosmith music and SPEED! Don't be afraid of trying RNR tho - it's a great theme and an amazing amount of fun despite the head jarring!! :rolleyes2

Rock N ROller Coaster of course is a must do at HS but that's also because there isn't much else to do there lol. Its kind of jerky and always gives me a headache after but its still somehow fun. There is a fast launch at the very beginning which can be a little nerve wracking waiting for it to go but after that its fine. There are a few inversions. For me its a painful ride and not very smooth but this may be because I am vertically challenged and my head gets whipped back and forth on the sides of the shoulder harness. Everest is much more smooth and space mountain is also a little jerky. Hope this helps!

As usual I'm going to be the odd man out. I find EE the smoothest of the three and I love it and ride it over and over. Space Mountain is jerky and my neck ends up hurting on it, no matter how I brace my arms and fee, could be because I'm short so I can't really reach to brace my feet well. I will ride it if there isn't a line, I'm not doing a FP for it and not waiting in line. I won't ride Rock in Roll Roller Coaster any more. I tried it a few times, I'm not afraid of roller coasters, love going upside down, backwards and such but by the time I get off it I'm in so much pain it's just not worth it. I think, again it's a short, small person issue, my head gets bounced around so much that I always get a headache which ends up making me sick at my stomach. I've tried bracing my head by pushing back but there are times it comes out and then it just bounces around.

EE in my opinion is the best of all 3. It's thrilling and fun but doesn't give me whip lash. While RnR was fun, my neck hurt me the entire trip! And Space is too dark for my liking. EE is the perfect combo of both

My fiance is doesn't handle coasters well, however he tried RnR last trip & loved it! He made me go again! He will also ride Space but wont go near Everest.

Space Mt. is very bouncy and jerky. EE and RnR are smoother. Space and RnR are similar in that both are in the dark, but SM is very dark. EE is both indoors and outdoors. No loops or inversions with SM or EE. Though when going backwards, my oldest son always felt like he was going upside down on EE. I can't ride coasters anymore. But when I could, EE was my favorite of the three!

Probably doesn't pertain to the original question but...did you know the top speed on space mountain is only like 27 mph, which is about as fast as the trams in the parking lots. We got to ride it with the lights on once. Totally different ride. Kinda felt like a kids ride. But there are some tight spaces, like I think I could touch stuff if I really tried.

RNR is hands down my favorite of the three. Very smooth ride. I HATE SM. TOO jerky for me. My son loves it though.

They are all a little rough for me (but I'm an old dude). EE wins because the theming is just phenomenal. :earsboy:

RnR is definitely my favourite of the 3. So much fun, I just wish it lasted longer! EE is a close second. SM is too rough and jerky for me. It's not nearly as good as the SM in DLR.

I would describe each of them like this:

Space Mountain: A fun, but generally tame, roller coaster. It's fun because of the darkness. It can be jerky, so if you have any soreness, bad back, injuries, etc. that could be aggravated, I would sit it out.
Rockin Rollercoast: I call this a fun and exciting coaster. It's never really scary, except for the few seconds before it launches...but they give you a tiny bit of a countdown, so you can prepare yourself. Once it's going it's just pure fun and excitement. This is my favorite ride at Disney.
Everest: This one is the Thrilling and "scary" coaster. They use the theme well, and the slow climb up the hill is typical and builds suspense/excitement. The ride itself can also be intense, especially the backwards part.

I generally avoid coasters with inversions and over-the-shoulder harnesses since I reached old age, but RnR is still very smooth. Not all that thrilled with launch coasters; I prefer chain lifts, but RnR is better than most launches.

I cannot handle Florida's SM anymore. It's just too rough and jerky for me. I know it's a classic, but I have no intention of developing a strategy or training myself to tolerate it. There are plenty of coasters I used to enjoy that are now on my scrap heap. Disney can tear it down as far as I'm concerned. (DL California Space Mountain is still good.)

Everest is by far Disney's most enjoyable coaster. Both the ride itself and the theming.
