Space Shuttle Launch

I am wondering if anyone can direct me to a good viewing site for the space shuttle launch. We will be in Disney for the launch, but I'd like to surprise my DH with a rental car for him to be able to watch the launch, as it is a dream of his. I did try to buy a launch site ticket, but they are sold out. Thank you very much!

We always park at the Cape Canaveral Airforce base entrance. They have bleachers, port-a-potties and a loudspeaker. Plus, it's not crowded.

Be aware that the shuttle launches not very dependable. We've gone down several times, just to have them start the count and then scape the launch. I hope it goes while you are there--it's a once-in-a-lifetime event!!

Our friends who live there tried to go one, and even had tickets, and said the traffic getting to a launch is so bad they arrived let and the guards wouldn't let them onto the KSC grounds.

They suggested Titusville as being the best place to watch a launch from.

I would suggest bringing a portable TV if you have one...and/or radio. I was going to bring my laptop on our last trip with a Sprint Mobile broadband card so we could watch on the 'net as well.

If you have portable chairs, a cooler, binoculars, etc that's a good idea too...from the sounds of things you need to get there early and camp out a spot and hang there for a good part of the day. Pick a spot in Titusville along the water somewhere where there's a bathroom in the vicinity and you'll be an extra happy camper, enjoy!

I too REALLY wanted to do this and it got scrubbed / delayed on our last trip so we didn't get the chance.

Titusville has a "Space View Park" right on the water!

Cocoa Beach is another popular spot to see the launch,- you will need to set off early though as the roads get very busy
