Thanks for the info. Normally I have the news on in the morning, but didn't this morning.

According to CNN, NASA has just declared an emergency. No other info yet.

My family went outside around 8:00 to watch the shuttle pass over Texas. We have done this several times, and we are familiar with the path that it normally takes as is flies over the area. It was very foggy in the area this morning, and we thought we were probably not going to be able to see it through the thick fog. We were eventually able to locate a vapor trail. We started to get excited, but then we realized the trail wasn't going in the normal direction. We watched for a minute, and then we figured the trail must have been from a jet since it was traveling in the wrong direction. We then ran into the house to see if the landing was being shown on TV. It was then that we learned that NASA had lost contact with the shuttle just a few minutes before. We were sad to learn what was really happening.

Everyone please continue to pray for the families of these astronauts and for our country!

I am just getting the info on this tragic story. I'm saddened to hear about this accident my prayers and tears go out to the family. I remeber the Challenger explosion in 1986, I cried on that day as i am crying now. :( :(

C & D,

Was watching it live probably just like you were when the reporter realized that he couldn't see the shuttle that was suppose to land in 3 seconds. Then all the reports of "no contact" and "not seen on radar". Switched to CNN and saw the film taken by their affiliate in TX showing the shuttle breaking up. It is so heartbreaking. I felt so bad for the families waiting at the Space Center only to be taken back to the complex when the shuttle did not land. I can only imagine the shock and grief among them. Please lets keep them all in our prayers.
