Space Mountain

I have a 5yo that loves roller coasters. She is definitely over the height limit for most of the "big" rides. I have no problems with her riding SplashM or TM. What about SpaceM? I can't remember if each person has to sit alone. If that is the case, I don't think I would be comfortable with her riding that yet. What have been your experiences with this with a younger child that likes fast rides?

I took my 7 year old last year on Space Mountain for the first time. I made sure he was sitting in the seat in front of me so he could hear my voice easily. He loved the ride so much that we went on it again that same day.

DS, who is 7 and just 48", sat in the front, and I sat right behind with my hands on his shoulders. he really wanted to ride, but got a little intimidated as we approached the boarding area and saw that we can't sit side by side. I could lean up and whisper in his ear and reassure him. During the ride it's hard to keep your hands there but he was busy having fun by that time. I would explain beforehand that you would be sitting behind her and give her the option of getting on the ride. My not-so-daredevil son had a great time!

My 6 y.o. dd is a little daredevil and this was her first time on a real rollercoaster (not just the kiddie ones at local fairs). She loved Space Mountain and immediately wanted to ride it again. Had her arms in the air ;o)

The seats are individual but close enough so you can reach out and touch the person in front of you if you want to reassure your ds.

I took my almost 6 year old on Space Mountain. He wanted to ride in the front and I just kept my hand on his shoulder so he knew I was there in the dark. He didn't need it though, he got off and wanted to go again. I would take her on the people mover (it's called something else now) first since it goes through SM and it would give her a preview of the darkness before actually riding. We had our 2 year old convinced it was Space Mountain so he felt very grown up.

I did the same things with my hands and half way through the ride my daughter said mommy you can let go of me now your squeazing me to tight.

DD went on it with Dad at age 6. He sat behind her and put his hands on her shoulders and spoke to her the whole time. She tends to be timid about some new experiences, but with her Daddy right there she did great and rode the thing a couple more times...

My DD6 loved Space mountain!!! I however was a basket case! Even tho, I could reach out and touch her and talk to her, I did not like that I could'nt see her. I never told her any of this, and was glad when the ride was over. I kept imagining her flying out of the seat( yes she was of height), but I only felt that the first time she rode. Now I am over that, I am only telling you this so that if you experience that feeling, you aren't alone!!! Now we both ride Space Mountain and its wonderful!!

Hi. DS 4 and over the height requirement was sooooo excited to ride SPACE MOUNTAIN! He rode in front of me and I reached over his shoulder and he held my hand. Not comfortable for me but he got off and had only one word for me AGAIN! said very loudly. He loved it and can not wait to go again and again. You know your child and do just do what you think is best. Have fun.
