Hello,

Am I right in believeing that space mountain in the MK doesn't go upside down?

My DH won't go on anything that goes upside down.

Last time I rode it, it didnt.

It's the one in Paris that goes upside down :)

The only ride in WDW that has inversions is Rock 'n' Roller Coaster with has 3 - 2 loops and a corkscrew :)

I thought so...I got my DH on the paris one and he never forgave me!

He didn't believe that the one in Orlando didn't do the same and didn't go on it.

I have shown him this thread and he has changed his mind!

Thanks everyone!

We love the Paris one, so don't think we'll be too keen on the WDW one, but from what I gather, it's quite different in what you see too (or lack of)..

My sister did not like the WDW, she had been on the Paris one first and thought they be similar, she said she realised that the wdw was not going be as good when she saw that the safety bar went over the lap.

Oh well... It's just one ride, and we will ride it, if we don't like it that much, then less queueing for us! :rotfl:

The one at WDW is very tame after the one at DLP. In fact on our last visit we didn't go on!

being someone who loves thrill rides and having been on the Paris version first I was shocked how tame and different the WDW one was.

I tried telling this to my DH but he just wouldn't believe me.

Thanks to you guys though he now does!

I'm always amazed that the MK Space mountain has a maximum speed of less than 30MPH. It seems much faster to me, probably because of the darkness during the ride.
Steve.

Personally I am not fussed on this ride. I much prefer other rides like Splash mountain.

I remember a long time ago, we were relaxing on the Tomorrowland Transit ride (which was known then as the 'Wedway People Mover').
Part of the ride involves journeying through a section of Space mountain. However, on this particular occasion, SM was closed for maintenance and all the lights were on in there. It was amazing to see how precarious the long, winding track looked as it snaked back and fore through the air.
It's probably just as well that it's completely dark during the ride!

Are the restraints pretty good as I understand you sit on your own - one behind each other. DD is 10 would she be quite secure?

It's all quite safe. There are always young children riding on it. It's also usual for one parent to accompany a child, whilst the other waits down at the end of the ride.

We actually rode SM in the light, i think the ride broke down just as our vehicle set off, and all the lights were on, it was surreal to say the least.

They said we could go on again, but then the ride must have been more "broken down" than they first thought as they cleared the queue!

I thought SM would be more 'thrilling' too. It reminds me of the black hole at Alton Towers (If you're old enough to remember it!).

Mind you, I might be a bit more nervous now!!!!!!
