Okay guys don't laugh at me but the last time I went to Disney I was 14. I am now 31 and taking my 3 yr old in July. I have a silly question. What fear rating would you give Space Mountain? 1-10 1 being a baby ride. I want to ride it but if it is not worth it I don't want to waste time on it.

I would give it about a 4 or 5 if you have no problems with being in the dark; however, if being in the dark is a problem, then I would have to give it a 7 or 8. You can't see where you're going for the majority of the ride. But it sure is fun!! :wave2:

It's not very scary at all for an adult. It's fast and fun, turning this way and that through "space" (dark with stars), but there aren't any drops (just little bunny hills), and you don't go upsidedown or anything like that.

On a scariness scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 6.

P.S. - It's not a ride for a 3 year old though.

Have a wonderful time! :tink:

I was going to say that I don't think a 3 year old is tall enough to ride Space Mt. I think it's got a 42" height restriction.

You know I was surprised at how fast it was the last time we went. It caught me off guard- but I was laughing the whole time not frightened. So scariness I say a 5. But totally worth riding!

I would give it a 5 or a 6. And this is coming from a scaredy cat! I normally don't ride most roller coaster rides but Space Mountain is not that bad.

Space Mountain has short drops and lots of twists and turns in the dark. My husband gets headaches from riding Big Thunder Mountain and Rock n Rollercoaster, but he's fine on Space Mountain. I enjoy most of the rides and shows, but Space Mountain was one of the few rides I REALLY wanted to do again. (Our trip two weeks ago was my first time on Space Mtn since I was maybe 10.)

For yourself o, it is a tradition in the park. But I must say after riding Rock n Rollercoaster at MGM it made Space Mountain seem tame. I will keep riding it though, just for the many memories over the years. :sunny:

I give it about a 5 or 6. I am the BIGGEST chicken in the world (Not just Disney) and I can ride it. Heck, the fact that I even get in line for it means it's not that scary!

I'd give it about a 6. You can't really see where you are going, so you get jerked around sudden turns, which can be a little jarring. But its a really fun ride. It goes a little faster than Big Thunder Mt. It's a definite must-do

I went a couple years ago after first being on it when I was 14 also (40-something now)...According to a book I read, the fastest speed is only about 28 miles/hour and it just several feet off the floor.

Funny story - DH thought it was a tame ride about where you learn about space. :rolleyes1 We had to go directly to the Mickey's Philharmagic :3dglasses after Space Mtn. (I'm not really mean...I thought he KNEW what it was about!) He wouldn't go on anymore rides with me after that...

A 3 year old is too young to ride. Even if they were tall enough I think it's 44 inches maybe even 48. They sit by themselves so you can't hold them. Were going in Aug and my DS will be 5 1/2 he is only 42 inches and 35 lbs and even if he has a growth spurt I don't think he'll be riding

I thought Space Mountain was the exact same ride as it is in Disneyland Paris...so I told my friend to go on it, as it had Loopings...so imagine how 'disappointed' she was after coming back.....

I can't wait to ride it as SM Paris was a little bit too much, but this one should be fine....

I find that being in the dark helps...it's SEEING those drops in front of me that freaks me out. I love that ride. It does go fast. I'm a complete wussy, and I LOVE Space Mountain AND Mission Space. I haven't done TOT or RNRC yet. Don't think I could handle those!
