Space Mountain-Your thoughts..

I prefer DL's version because it has music (at least it did when I was there several years ago). I have the CD with the music and I still get a rush listening to it. WDW's version isn't as good - brighter so you can see the tracks and no music. :sad2:

It's a classic and I love it. I still remember when I rode it for the first time as I kid. They had to pry my fingers off the bar I was so scared, but I loved every second of it.

What I enjoyis the whole Space Mountain Experience - the cheesy "hologram" images you see while waiting in line, riding in single-file cars, looking at all the little effects off in the corner until you suddenly get whipped in another direction. And I may be the only person in the world who feels this way, but I love all the goofy displays as you ride the "Speed Ramp Exit" on your way out. The robot dog is probably my favorite character in the MK.

I actually really like it.. It seems the older Im getting I dont like coasters like I used to, but I still enjoy riding Space Mountain.. with a fastpass of course because the line is usually horrendous..

Actually, I don't mind waiting in the line. I like looking at the pictures at other cool stuff. I sometimes trip over myself because it's so dark.

I used to love it, but the past few times I've ridden it's given me a headache. It's extremely rough(IMO) and I'm left feeling nauseaus and sore everywhere. After my last ride in Feb., I vowed to not ride it until it was updated...it's nowhere near fun for me anymore. :guilty:

It's still one of our favorites but I agree that it needs a little updating (which I'm sure is in the works now that DL SM has re-opened to fav reviews). I was out in DL two years ago and it was still closed for renovations so we just missed it. My sister was there last year and she said it was awesome!!

I think it definitely needs an update. I heard that the DL version of this ride got an update but left the track the same and that is the perfect idea! :thumbsup2 I would love to see the line queue redone as well as the "cheesy" asteroids updated with a better effect. And I think they could also do the stars inside the ride better. Lets get a touch of that Disney magic. :wizard:

I really like both sides of SM! I kinda miss the "chocolate chip cookies" they used to use as atmosphere inside the queue area. The "shooting stars" look a lot more real now.

I love the ride  but I have also did the SM :cool1:
in DLP and I love that one more because of the fact
The ride is longer and more exciting

The first time me and my friends went in the WDW
SM I almost fell asleep

I recently decided to try Space Mountain again. I only stopped going on it because of the first year (you don't want to know).

What are your thoughts on the ride?

We do not ride Space any more as it is the only ride that seems to cause both of us to have back pain after riding it. My theory is it has to do with the way your are seated on Space compared to the other Roller Coaster. We enjoyed this ride very much until our backs go to old  .

Hadn't changed in the 30 years since I last rode it.

1st time thru it seemed a bit jerky but we rode it again on another night and it was a blast!

This is DD12's favorite ride. The updated version at DL sounds great! We've been spoiled by FastPass though, and won't even consider getting in the line if it's longer than 20 minutes! :teeth: We were at MNSSHP a few years ago, and rode SM back to back to back to back. After the 4th consecutive trip through, I said, 'on to the next ride'! :goodvibes I do love the mountain, but I can only take so much. ;)

We like the left side better than the right side at SM-WDW. Don't know if there's an actual difference, but it feels like there is.

Left facing the cars as you board or left as the line splits?

I found the left as the line splits to be a smoother ride.

After riding the DLP SM the WDW one just doesnt match up, in DLP you sit up higher and side by side - its darker, longer and you just cant beat the 45 degree whoooosh at the start.

Too jerky. I have ridden it twice and both times vowed never to ride it again.
I don't like being jerked all around in my seat.

Fun times, love it! And it makes DH scream which I find hilarious :rotfl2:

I've thought it seems to be tamer (and brighter) every time I ride it. Of course, the first time I rode it I was 7 or so years old in 1977. I'm sure that's part of the reason it seems tamer. It was my favorite ride back then (I always liked the chocolate chip cookies floating overhead). It's still the best in the MK although both RnR and ToT are much more enjoyable to me.

Honestly, it's pretty tame for a roller coaster, but the dark adds some to the excitement. I don't know if it's actually brighter, or I just pay more attention now, but you can see the track most of the time. I will agree with an earlier poster, sitting in the front, you really feel like you are "out" there. I don't care for it, it doesn't feel like there's anything in front of you. I prefer seeing my DW or DD in front of me.
