I recently decided to try Space Mountain again. I only stopped going on it because of the first year (you don't want to know).

What are your thoughts on the ride?

We love it--all of us: me37, DS10, and grandma60. Its fast enough to give you a nice thrill and being in the dark is just cool. We really enjoy it!

I love Space Mountain. It is fun and a classic.

Space Mountain is Great, if you use the fastpass!

A roller coaster in the dark, and all of the effects..its awesome!

I love it and generally I'm completely anti roller-coaster. I think the fact that it is a dark ride really helps because I can't anticipate the dips and turns. I think its a nice smooth ride too. My favorite ride in both DL and WDW.

The first time I ever went on it I hated it (9 years ago, I was 19) Last year something inside me snapped and I said 'this is it, I'm gonna do it and I need to ride it now this minute' so we did and then we rode it again and again and again...it is now one of my fave rides!

I have rode it upon every visit because it is such a classic. However, I can agree with reports that it does need to be updated. :guilty:

My DM41 will no longer ride it. She states it gives her hotflashes, and she feels she almost had a heart attack. :confused3

um... Not to be rude, but when was the last time you were at Disney? :confused3 I just returned about two weeks ago and even though I love the ride I think it needs to be updated.

The reason I say this is the darkness factor. I now have the ability to see what's coming, unlike before. So, I disagree - I do know what is going to be next (not because I rode it so many times, but because it isn't as dark as it once was.)

I've not rode it yet. I plan to ride it in DLP this year and next year at WDW. What was your problem with it?

I didn't say I had a problem with it. I just said I think it needs to be updated.

I heard the Space Mountain in Disneyland Paris is awesome. Please give a report when you return! :cool1:

Dh says DLP one is good as it's side by side and appears to be faster. My friends dd rose SM in WDW this summer and dd is excited to ride it but I am concerned she will not like DLP one and not ride WDW one. 2 months and I'll be able to give an update. I've not ridden before due to my back probs before but am able to ride now. Just wondered what was wrong in the first year but dh has ridden WDW SM a few times and says it get tedious.

Rode the "orginal" SM at DL last Aug'05 and this May. What a difference! :p
Intill last Aug the WDW SM was so much better. However, when they did the 50 year stuff for DL in Cal. they upgraded the ride. It is fast, waaaayyyy fast. And smooth. Think butter on a hot griddle, or best pick up line you ever heard! :lmao: It was so fast my DS, 14yo had streaming eyes! It was the first Roller coaster we could ever get him on, and he loved it.
So we went a month latter to WDW we got him on SM there. We were all disapointed. Still a great ride, but compared with the one in Calif. it really shows its age. The WDW one is so shakey and jerky compaired to the one in at DL now. Still its a great ride, just not as good as the update they did in Cal.

it is a mediocre roller coaster made semi-exciting by the fact that it is in the dark.

Last year I got the very front seat the first time we rode it. Wow, there's not much of a nose on the cars, so you feel like you're being droped out into a void or something. Freaked me out! (so of course I had to go back and do it again!) I don't usually notice a difference in the front or back of rides, but this was almost like a completely different ride!

I really like rollercoasters and thrill rides. But I really don't like this one.

It doesn't feel safe to me - the coaster cars just don't seem to hold you in very well, the track looks old, it tips too far to the side and when the lights are flashing you can see cables and wires all over the place. It just doesn't seem to be as well maintained as the other rides, and I don't think I'll be doing it next time around. I also seem to injure my neck when I go on it so all in all I'm not a huge fan!!
