Hey Disney fans, Many of you may or may not know this but a classic attraction at the Magic Kingdom is celebrating a milestone. Yep thats right, Space Mountain WDW's first Roller Coaster turns the BIG 32 this month (January 15th) Space Mountain still remains a true Classic icon of Tomorrowland since it opend back in 1975. Since then there have been 4 other versions of Space Mountain, And hundreds of Space Mountain clones all over the world. I first roode Space Mountain back in 1981 (My first visit to WDW). Since then I have been a true fan of space mountain. Back in 2000 & in 2004 I got to see what Space mountain looks like with the lights on. I was amazed at how Disney can put a Roller Coaster inside a Building 183 feet high , and 300 feet in diameter. Back in 2004 (My 6th and recent visit to WDW) I tried to take a picture of the inside of Space Mountain with the lights on but all I got was the lights not the track. I will try again next year with a Digital camera. HAPPY 32nd BIRTHDAY WDW" SPACE MOUNTAIN!:yay:

Dittoes... I remember all of the hoopla on TV when they had the grand opening!

Here's a funny story for our family about Space Mountain! Back when it just opened, my grandparents took my mom, my dad (her then dbf), and my mom's brother (my uncle) to WDW for the first time. My uncle had heard about Space Mountain but nobody else in my family had so they had no clue what it was. My uncle talked them into going on it and at the time my grandpa had a back problem. When they got off, he realized that the ride had put it back in place! Well I guess it's not THAT funny, but it's funny to us!

Space Mountain was my very first roller coaster! I rode it on the President's Day holiday in 1975, as part of a youth group - I was so thrilled to be joining said group (I was in 6th grade) that even thought I was scared to death of dark, fast rides, I went anyway, and found out that I loved them!

Man, that is the best ride ever. I am so afraid that im going to hit my head on the inner structure. LOL :lmao: , Happy Birthday Space Mountain!! party: :bday: :cake: :tinker: :mickeyjum :goofy: :dancer: :rockband: :cake:

wow didn't realize i was a year older than space mountain. I turn 33 this year in may cool i'm a little older than 1 of my fave rides:rotfl:

Crap. I'm older than Space Mountain. At least they don't still have those bench seats w/out dividers.

Have they done anything to it like out here at Disneyland? You know, make it darker, faster, stomach churning, etc? I actually miss the old Space Mountain here. Something about that big bake potato looking asteroid projected on the wall...............

Can't wait for our trip in March!

Ouch! That makes me feel old. They were just in the early stages of building it on my first visit -- I remember viewing the model & not being very clear what type of ride it was. I didn't realize that it took that long for it to actually open.

Happy Birthday Space Mountain! I love that ride, I can't believe it's 32! From my view, it seems as though it was built yesterday! That ride never gets old!

You can tell it's that old . I'm not a fan & can never understand the huge lines at this attraction.

Now Space mountain at DLP that's another ride altogether.

Man, that makes me feel even older. I had already been teaching for a few years and came down to see Apollo-Soyuz lift off that summer. Hit Disney the next day with my niece who had just graduated from high school that spring. All her life she was one of those people who got car sick, but we went on space mountain anyway-after she took a dramamine or something. Will never forget that you had to sit on the floor of a bullet shaped car-heaviest of the 2 people in it to the back. LOL That was the day I decided I would live in Florida. Moved down the next summer.

Well What do you know? Space Mountain and my DD (sydally9367) are the same age. :goodvibes

Happy Birthday SM. This is by far my most ridden attraction at WDW or any theme park for that matter!

I can remember sitting in front of my dad when I was around 7 or 8 and just having the time of our life. What a great ride!

:bday: :bday:
