I was going over my notes for our trip (we leave in 2 days!!) and have conflicting notes. Is one side less scary than the other? If so, should I go on the left or right side?

Also, how many can ride together? It is me, DH, DD7 and DD10.

Thanks!

Both sides are about the same, although I tend to agree with the urban legend that the left side is a bit faster. Each rocket has two cars that seat 3 people each in single seats, front to back. The back seat is fastest/roughest as in most coasters, but the view of this dark coaster from the first seat is really nice!

Last trip a bus driver told us the giant asteroid that flies across the roof inside SM was created from a picture of a chocolate chip cookie. Apparently there were no life size photos of asteroids back in the day. Fact or fiction? I don't know, but it makes a good story...

Ive heard that one side is faster/rougher than the other, but I can never tell. 6 people can ride together, kinda.... 3 can sit, one behind the other in the first car and then attached to that is a second car where 3 can sit.

It is a chocolate chip cookie. I can't recall which of my Disney books I read it in, but it was one of the "official" books, not just a rumor/fan book. Maybe "Since the World Began"?

Anyways, I always thought the left side was just slightly darker & slightly wilder. I know the 2 sides are supposed to be mirror images of each other. But, that's just how it seems to me.

I like both the front & back of the cars, as each is a slightly different experience. I like the unobstructed view from the front car, but I like the whip action of being in the tail end also. It's all good.

Have Fun!

The cookie story is definately true. I learned about it on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. It is a Chocolate Chip Cookie on a lazy susan.

We just got back last night and did Space Mountain three times on Friday--twice on the left and once on the right. Couldn't tell if there was a difference. Both fun, fast, and wild :)

Be sure to pack some warm clothes. There was frost on our YC windows yesterday morning. Wish we had taken gloves.

The only difference I can tell is that they turn in opposite ways at the start which supports the mirror image fact (not theory). Here is an interesting fact: Although the top speed is listed at 29 mph, the actual speed in the morning hours with the track, wheels, and grease cold could go as low as 22 mph and as much as 32 mph in the evening with everything "heated up". Still slow in relative terms but quite a difference in the experience from morning to evening!

I've ridden scores that are faster but it's still #1 in my book. pirate:

That is interesting! So a scardy cat like myself should ride first thing in the morning, right?

We rode it 11 times our last trip in May and think for sure that the left side is faster. Who knows, they may have changed that by now...but last May...it was hands down the left side that gave the greater thrill.

Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

I have been riding this for years. I believe that the right side is tamer then the left. I have read somewhere that one side has more horizontal and the other more vertical.

That would be a great way to start the day! Be sure to grab a fast pass so you can try the other side later!! :cool1:
