I have been to Disney numerous times since just after the park opened and one ride that has not really seen much change is Space Mountain. I know they changed out the cars about 10 yrs ago, but the overall experience has not changed much except for slowing it down in the mid 80's due to an accident from what I remember. Does anyone think there is a chance that Space Mountain in WDW will be upgraded to have more of a thrill to it? Isn't Paris Space Mountain roughly 45 mph and WDW is 27? I still love Space Mountain, but it would be nice to have it more along the thrill lines of Rockin Roller Coaster. The Magic Kingdom has not seen a new roller coaster in 25 yrs and either upgrading Space Mountain or somehow adding a new thrill ride would be a welcome addition. However being that Space Mountain is still very popular, I kinda doubt they will change much if at all any time soon... Add to that the fact that the Magic Kingdom is still the #1 theme park in the world might also reduce the chances of a new thrill ride any time soon...

Yeah the Paris Space Mountain is a lot faster and also has inversions in it. I was surprised at this as I had been on Space Mountain in WDW before I went to Paris. Got into the line expecting the usual fun and read the notices about the inversions etc!!! But it is a great ride.

Will be hitting WDW in June this year though so I will be able to compare them properly this time as it has been a while since I was at WDW. :earsboy:

The ride at DL-Paris is completely different, more along the lines of a combination of California Screamin and Rock n Rollercoaster. I don't foresee that a renovation of the WDW Space Mountain attraction will happen. Instead they will build new coaster type rides, such as Expedition Everest to entice the thrill seeker.

I agree that most likely Space Mountain will remain unchanged for the most part in WDW, however it would be cool to have it updated to be more along the lines of Space Mountain in Paris. If not, a new ride that adds thrill in the MK would be a welcome addition. Epcot could use one also - Test Track is cool as is Mission Space, but not really the same feeling you get from a ride such as the Expedition Everest will likely provide. I can understand why they added Everest at AK since that has the lowest attendance of the 4 parks and needed a big ride to pull in people. Does anyone know of any additional thrill rides on their way to any park in WDW besides Everest say in the next 5 yrs?
