Space Mountain Rehab

The work being done at Space Mountain is obviously quite extensive based on this photo I found the at WDW News Today. They obviously have cut a large hole in the roof to allow for materials to be moved in and out. Does anyone else have any more photos of the work in progress?

I'm sorry but something seems wrong.

I do not see any photo and I do not see any link. However, when I went to do a quote I could see the link in "IMG" brackets; following that in another window I did not see any hole in the roof.

The pics from that link clearly show the crain going into the building with the top off. Further more, I was just there the other day and it was very clear when i was on the monorail that you could see it was off. From what i have heard on the DisUnplugged boards, they have just recently replaced the old tracks and put an entirely new track in there, but don't take my word for it. That info came from the Rapid Fire thread over on those boards, i don't know for sure myself, but they said they got their info from insider who is normally very reliable.

I expect a lot more than just the top being off. It would make more sense with them redoing the track first so then they can just work around it. I'm guessing they are probably working more on operational things other than the track yet.

that is what i would think too, but like i said, i have no official source on that info, just what they were saying from an "insider" over on those boards. Anyway, i was just there and i clearly saw a hole at the top. They weren't doing any construction at this time however, but there was definatley a black hole that caught my eye as it was out of the ordinary from what i normally see when looking at SM. idk what is going on in there, but i'm real excited to find out once it opens up again in November.

That is very interesting. When I was there just last weekend, we were on the train and saw many construction workers through the bushes by Space while we were going through Tomorrowland. I didn't see a crain though. Nor did I see a dull hole in the roof while we were on the monorail. That's strange. But one other thing I noticed was by where Indy Speedway is, two TTA cars were parked on the track. It kinda looked like they were moving the TTA cars out of the storage place inside Space. I don't know though. I also wondered about the Space refurb and TTA closing down too. Space is supposed to open in November and TTA is supposed to open late August. What are they going to do with the views of Space from inside the TTA? If construction is going on in there, something could fall or something. I've been wondering about that for a while.

if they figure on reopening the TTA during the SM refurb they're probably going to put up some wall to prevent injuries or viewing construction.

I would speculate they won't open TTA until all the heavy construction is done. They can open it safely when they're just doing painting, other decorating, electrical wiring and of course during testing. Giving people a brief glimpse of what is going an inside SM will help raise the level of anticipation.

I still can't understand why Disney would wait till their busiest time of the year to rehab one of their most popular rides. AND, the weather is crazy in Florida during the summer...hurricanes...3pm afternoon showers....who came up with this plan anyway
