Last time I went to Disney space mountain's seating was one person behind the other. The video clip on their site shows people side by side. Did they change the cars or is the video inaccurate? Just wondering because it will determine how we tackle the ride with DD5. Thanks for help

Each rocket can hold 4 people. Two in each seat, the riders sit tandem. Not sure what video clip you saw, but it may have been just an appearence thing.

Second thought, I know that they have "redone" Space Mountain at Disneyland. So maybe they have new ride vehicles.

So guess I didn't do much to answer your question, sorry!

WDW's Space Mountain you sit in single seats one behind the other. 3 seats per car, 2 cars attached together.

THanks, I thought they were two cars with three people, all one per seat, but the video on the walt disney world web site was misleading.

That's right, guess my memory isn't what it used to be. Guess I'll just have to take a trip to refresh it! :rotfl:

They've used that video for a long time. I went for the first time in 1994 and it was single seating then.

The video also shows people standing up on Tower of Terror!

At one time, the cars in Space Mountain were designed for 2 to sit together one in front of the other. I think, anyway. But not side-by-side.

It's been several years since I've been to Disneyland, but I think Disneyland's SM ride had people sitting next to each other. Perhaps they used DL footage for the WDW video?

I have a few questions to ask you guys and was hoping that you guys could awnser them . . .

1. ::MinnieMo If you were to choose two parks to go back to again what would they be and why?

2. ::MinnieMo Wich park has the most variety of characters?

3. ::MinnieMo What are some of your fav desserts and where do you get them?

I'm pretty sure I remember sitting next to my Dad at DisneyLAND years ago. I haven't been there for years so I don't know if it's still that way. I know when we were at WDW last August it 3 riders per car sitting one in front of the other, with 2 cars attached to each other.

Yes, Disneyland is side-by-side and Disneyworld is one in front of the other seating. As you can see by my signature, we go back and forth. We're waiting to take my 6 year old for the first time on Space Mountain at DL in Jan 2006!

Side note that Splash Mountain is also opposite at the 2 parks. It's side-by-side at WDW and in front of each other at DL. So, my DS has only ridden that at WDW!

From friends of mine who grew up on that other coast, I have heard they always had the tandem-side-by-side cars. When I was there it was closed in order to refurbish it for the 50th anniversary.

I first rode SM at WDW when I was about six. That was in the early 80s and before I became the coaster lover I am now. It was the same setup then as it is now, sitting one behind the other. It was a harrowing experience back then and I remember that vividly.
