Space Mountain Question

I haven’t been to DL in several years but I seem to remember hearing about something new at Space Mountain after the last major renovation. I think it was that there was supposed to be different ride experiences when you road during the day versus at night. I could have this completely wrong or it could be the WDW version. In any case, I can’t find anything about it now. Does anyone know? I’m heading there this weekend finally!!

I have rode Space Mountain tons and dont believe it is different from day to night. Could be wrong though.

They had a Rockin' overlay, played different music, Red Hot Chili Peppers, but I don't think the ride itself was different. It's not there anymore.

Yes they did a major renovation on the ride before the 50th anniversary. They had the ride down for years. Basically redoing all the tracks. But over all I wouldn't say it is terribly different from what it was before (you should have heard the rumors of what it was supposed to have), and I have only been on WDW SM twice a few years ago so I can't compare. Except to say the seating is different in the cars, and I hear that DL SM is darker, and smoother since the tracks have been updated, but WDW hasn't had the major renovation. But same ride no matter the time of day.

Last April they did a temporary overlay of RHCP's music on Scream' and SM, it was a short event. They had a different song on each ride. Many did not like it since it included some very bright lights on several of the banks, and many of us prefer the "dark" SM. There has been no word of this returning.

Disneyland's Space Mountain has ALWAYS been smoother and darker than WDW's - even before the rehab. It's faster, too. As far as I know there's no difference in the ride depending on time of day.
