Space Mountain Haloween Reviews

I know that most of the Halloween themes and goodies will be gone after November 1st so I'm guessing it'll go away then, hopefully it doesn't have to go down for another two weeks to convert it back to normal!

I can't wait to go on this ride, and now after reading these reviews I'm even more excited! I wont have a chance to check it out until October 4th though. Guessing we'll have to run there as soon as they open the gates and then get a fast pass on the way out.

Does anyone know if they are doing anything special for Fantasmic! ? Or is the long-awaited newly introduced dragon going to double as its Halloween showcase?

When the wait for Space Mountain is a two hour wait, how is this affecting the lines for other rides such as Indiana Jones? Also, how soon are FP gone?

I am so excited!
DD6 won't do Space Mountain I don't think...she wouldn't do it in Tokyo when we were there, and could never do it in Paris because it's height requirement very different. We'll have to do child swap, but we also have the Happiest Haunts tour so that's good. DS will love it.

I missed it by five days. When we booked the trip the overlay was not even announced yet.:sad2:

I just want to say that I love your signature.:lmao:

I wish I could go check it out! Maybe next year....hopefully they will make this a yearly thing like Haunted Mansion.

We thought it was awesome as well. My 15 year old also compared it to the Mummy Ride at Universal Orlando.

The lines were tough. We were there for rope drop and the wait was 60 minutes with the Fast Pass system being down. When we got off at about 10:20am, the line was 85 minutes and the earliest fast passes were for 1:30pm.

This ride is going to be VERY popular!!!

Sorry, I don't have a trip booked this December, and I haven't looked into this because no trip is planned...But I'm confused...Are they actually going to take this ride back to refurb before the Holidays are done to remove the Halloween overlay? That makes no sense to me. They leave HMH in until the end of the Holiday season. :confused3 Seriously, are they taking this ride back to refurb before the holiday season is over?

There won't be a second refurb to uninstall. They'll just turn off all the extra projections when the season's over. There was a bit about it in the "Around Disney" blog portion of the OC Register. No de-refurb required :)

The Ghost Galaxy retheme wouldn't fit for Christmas as it is Halloween specific, unlike The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay for Haunted Mansion which spans and includes both Halloween and Christmas holidays.

We loved it! I thought it seemed faster too, skull effects were great but probably not for younger kids. We did wait for 35 min. (sign said 75) but fastpass rt was 3:40!!! Haunted mansion up next!

Ohhh I get it now. Thanks for the info!

It makes sense to keep HMH through the holidays because it ties into both Halloween and Christmas. Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy wouldn't make a whole lot of sense at Christmas, thematically.

I loooOOOOOvvved it!
I suggest getting there VERY early and running to get a FP first thing! I got my fast pass at 10:18am this morning but couldn't ride until 3pm! :scared1: There was a line to get a fastpass!

Callie - the soundtrack is spooky/suspenseful. It is perfect for the ride.

FP is the way to go! Today we got them @ 11:30, return time 8:45.

After rope drop, we saw the line was insane so we headed to Fantasyland and walked on most rides including Matterhorn. Most people were in line for either SM or HMH.

Oh yeah, Ghost Galaxy rocked!

Okay, that was one INTENSE ride through Space! Wow. I haven't ridden SM in a while, but I don't remember exiting with major sea legs. I stepped off SM Ghost Galaxy and felt like I had been on a ship. I walked a little wobbly for my first few steps. It was a rush.

Picture ahead.....

(It says "Ghost Galaxy." iphone didn't do too good with the flair from the light.)

I didn't get to ride this today. the line was so freaking long. oh well, I will have to wait until monday to ride it

We rode today after a 40 minute wait. The overlay was great fun. The overlay does not come close to the scare factor of Mummy. The overlay could easily be left up and marketed as an alien ride. The ghosts are more alien than ghostly.

I just got back from 4 rides on SM Ghost Galaxy.

I hadn't planned on going to the Park until my birthday next month. Not having been a huge fan of Rockin' Space Mountain, I figured I could wait to see Ghost Galaxy. However, the reviews were so good, I decided that a quick jaunt down there on this fine Saturday morning was in order.

I got in at main gate opening (8:00AM), picked up a FastPass and then went in the Standby line. Even though there had been a Magic Morning today, the time on my FP was only 8:45. The ride itself was walk-on.

Suffice it to say, I was not disappointed. I actually liked the fact that it hasn't been heavily overlaid. It's basically the same, good old Space Mountain, with some eerie/icky projections -- and at least one good jolt. :scared1:

For maximum impact, here's something I noticed:

I always ride SM in the front seat, but after my first 2 rides this morning, I decided to try the view from the back. Other than the lift hill projections (which work great from the front seat), I think most of the projections have a bit more impact if you are back a couple rows. Also, since several play along the walls on the outside of the curves, sitting on the left side of the car will put them right beside you. (Don't say I didn't warn you...)
