I am waffling on whether or not I'm going to ride Space Mountain this time around. I am not a roller coaster person, but I find smaller ones like BTMRR and the Racer at Paramount's Kings Island fine. I don't do inversions or cork screws or launch's.

What I'm wondering is those of you that don't like roller coasters and have ridden SM, what is your opinion? Are the dops huge? Any inversions, etc.? I really want to ride this, but am terrified it will be waaayyy too much.

SM is not fast at all, you might hit speeds of 35mph. You are in the dark alot , so it feels like your going faster than you are.

I've been on the Blue and Red Racer at King's Island and Space Mountain is similar to them, except it's inside in the dark. It's fun and not bad at all. If you did that one, you will be able to handle SpMt easily. There are no inversions or corkscrews on this rollercoaster. That is at Rock 'N Rollercoaster at MGM Studios.

Just be forewarned - while it is not super fast - it is bumpy - especially the left side! My glasses almost fell off.

Since we are on the topic-- what about any BIG DROPS?? DS always wants to do this one-- but I thought somewhere I read it had big drops??? That has kept me away.

Space Mountain is not bad at all. I'm terrified of roller coasters, and last time we were there my MIL talked me into going on it. I was a bit embarrassed, b/c it IS in the dark so every time it felt like we were getting ready to drop I would scream b/c I thought it was a BIG drop. :) I was the only one screaming on the entire ride! :) It doesn't have any big drops and it's really fun. Hope this helps!

Yeah a lot of times it seems like you're about to go down a HUGE hill, but it turns out to only be a little one. As everyone has said, this ride is a little bumpy, especially the last seat, and it is kind of scary because you sit one behind the other and not next to anyone. It is definitely a lot of fun though, so grab a fast pass and enjoy!

Do it. I was a chicken about this for ages, and the truth is, if you can do big thunder, you can do this one. The drops aren't big and there are no inversions. It's mostly spiraling. All of the coaster chickens I know have done fine on this ride. Do not chicken out in line! :) You'll have the opportunity to watch the ride before you get on, and it can look terrifying in the dark from your point of view. Do it anyway. ;)

I can't say I enjoy it. Each time I go on it, I can't wait to get off. It doesn't have big drops or loops, but its very curvy, loud and dark. I like BTMRR a lot more, but its not as bad as Rock & Roll.

Go on it just so you know for yourself what its like, then you don't have to do it again (unless you find you like it).

I'm not much of a roller coaster person but I'm okay going on SM. I thought there was only one big drop and that was at the beginning ... it was a little more more intense than BTMRR ... but it wasn't too bad. It's hard to tell when the other drops are coming because the ride is in the dark.

If you're not really into roller coasters, I'd rethink this one if I were you. I ride thrill rides, so SM doesn't bother me one bit (it actually was my first roller coaster at age 11). My Mom doesn't ride rides, she gets really bad motion sickness, so anyway we (DH, DDad, DMom, and DSister) were at WDW in December. We sucessfully got Mom on Splash Mountain and Big Thunder (similiar to Adventure Express at PKI), so we thought she could handle Space Mountain. Big mistake!! She got really nauseous on the ride, had to sit for a few minutes after getting off the ride and almost got sick.

If you don't ride roller coasters because they scare you, give Space Mountain a try (in my opinion, it's more like Flight of Fear at PKI, instead of the Racer). But if your reasoning is because of motion sickness, you may want to sit this one out.

Hope this helps!

Oh, by the way, bengalfreak, GO STEELERS!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

I have to agree, if you get motion sickness easily, you might want to skip it:( It is pretty bumpy especially in the back. I do get motion sickness, so I was pretty nauseated by the end, but I must tell you, I was laughing so hard through the whole ride because it was so bumpy, I thought my head was going to fall off, lol:eek: If you dont get sick, it is really a fun ride!!

If you can ride with someone who has been on the ride, it helps if they can tell you which way to lean since you get jerked around so much...very, very rough ride, but this ride chicken will tell you that there are no big drops like most coasters. And, by the way, I suggest you rethink riding Aerosmith, this ride chicken found it to be awesome...no big drops and the fast start is so smooth, you just enjoy the inversion and speed. I hung on tight, kept my eyes open and enjoyed the ride. It has become my favorite. The track is semi-lit with florescent signs. If you like Test Track and BTMRR, consider Aerosmith. It is nothing like the launch ride at OIA, the Hulk...I wouldn't get near that one.
Keep in mind if you have long legs, you will want to be in a front seat of one of the cars with more leg room for Aerosmith and possibly for SM (can't recall). Plus heed the warning to remove glasses, hats and get everything stowed away before SM.
