Space Mountain: Clothing Optional - All done and true even if it is April Fool's

Gasp....Wheeze....Snort:lmao:...wheeze....Gasp <-- this is the sound of me finally catching up on your previous TR & this one! I'm plumb worn out, I tell ya! Between the marathon read, the snorts of laughter, and my come lately "power surges (aka hot flashes)", I am, as they say in my neck of the woods, "sweatin' like a wh*re in church on Sunday." But, boy, was it worth it! You are hilarious, Dawn!
As are you!
I hope you get all your medical stuff well in hand. I have cancer & battle insurance companies on a weekly basis & I wholeheartedly sympathize with your frustration. Just keep fighting 'em, Dawn. :thumbsup2
With so many people in this country sick with cancer of some sort, hurt, injured etc...we should have more power than being at the mercy of the insurance companies ya know!
I can't wait for the next installment.

Thanks for finding me and I hope you stay with!
:lmao: I was cracking up here reading your latest installment! You definitely get a big AMEN from me! Sometimes (well a lot of the time) my edit button doesn't work when things are eloquently flowing out of my mouth. :confused3 :rotfl2: Well to me they are eloquent...maybe not the recipient! :rotfl2:
Okay what is with Kamra's use of the word parlayed....did she watch one to many Pirates of the Caribbean movies? OMgosh! LMAO! I totally never thought about that! Awesome! pirate:  And that sausage gravy....ugh it looked like flour and water mixed with ants. Or some kind of small black insect...fleas. Yummo! I like sausage gravy. A lot. And that looked really gross!!
Thanks for the laugh this afternoon...I missed seeing you on here!!

Tracy
I am back and plan on being able to get a new installment out daily! :worship:

Dawn -

This update was a hoot. Seriously, for awhile I thought you might be making up the whole story about the cake place. I was thinking, does Dawn really think we are going to believe this????? Then I realized that even your imagination is not vivid enough to make up a story like that. :rotfl: I'm glad your lunch sandwiches turned out to be pretty decent.

I have never driven through Indiana, being from the East Coast and all, but I would expect that parts of West Virginia are nearly as depressed as what you describe. Anyway, you have had to endure some seriously bad sights on your road to Disney. I hope things improve real soon! What a drive! Sheesh!

Nope. Everything is true. You can even find her site on line..that is how I got her pic and part of her info about the place. I just think I am one of those people who will always have the weirdest stuff happen to me.

In college, my freshman year In Iowa, I sat at an empty table for breakfast on a Saturday. I usually sat with the football players (Kids Dad and friends) but since they were getting ready for a game, I sat solo.

This girl, came up and asked if she could sit by me. I said sure and she sat down accross from me. She had gotten her mail and I noticed that a letter came from Avoca, MN. I could not see who it was adressed to.

I had gone to church camp in 4th grade with a girl from Avoca, MN. In fact we had been really close and pen pal lettered each other until our Junior year. Then just lost touch.

So I said,
"Do you know an Amy Goerin from Avoca, MN?"

She said, "That's me."

What are the chances we would not see one another since 4th grade and end up in the same small Lutheran Jr College?

Then, I moved colleges my Sophmore year, got married and had Treyner. Moved schools again my Junior year and guess who also was in my social work class first hour. Yup, Amy! We graduated from college together!

That is my life. Later I will tell you about my HS boyfriend....another eerie coinsidence!

Off for date night with Dan and Ryan Seacrest! :rotfl2:

Well I do know what you are talking about in Indiana cause my Grandparents are from Iowa and many trip through that sad state for family trips home. We go to West Virginia because my DH"S family if from there and we see the same thing we call them goodnuffs, cause it seems like if they get walls and a roof on it's good enough, why add siding or paint or even windows when plastic will do. Anyway I know IOWA, no I wasn't born there nor have I ever lived there but I know there and there is alot of weird there, including my extended family.
Now as for my upcoming Disney trip heres the dish. After everything went on in December, the trip, my dad, and other thing, I hadn't looked at my e-mails in like 3 weeks and when I did low and behold a 40% off pin. I had been looking for one before we went last time and here it was in all it's mocking glory. I told Dan and he got really quiet and said book it for your birthday so, May 13-19 WL:love: , Quick serve dining popcorn::, Flying:scared1: Just me and him again. Then I mentioned that I want to go in October 2011 and he doesn't so he told me to take our son, cool , can't wait, Cory is all for it he will be 22 and we get along really well, Mnsshp for us I'm dressin that boy up as Jack.
We are goin no frills this time and I have a bonus coming in March plus an extra payday in march and income tax refund is usually pretty good so I'm starting to put away some money, I really don't want anything but I'm looking for a Tinkerbell tree topper for my sis for Christmas and some vinylmations for my nephew and DH , yes he started collecting last time too so I need some fun funds. I am hoping Universal Studios will have the Harry Potter World open by the time go cause I am so doing that!!!!!
You asked, It looks like quite a few of us are going in May and staying in the Wilderness Lodge my fav, maybe we will get to say Hi!!!!

I'm going to be at the Wilderness Lodge at almost the exact same time as you! Our dates are just off by one day!

I was hoping you would mention it so I wasn't being pushy or anything, My name is Tammy and I tend to be a little shy about invading other peoples TRS but I won't write my owns so I just stalk Dawn and Ty's, they put up with me pretty well maybe because I love Disney as much as they do and I don't invade too often.:confused3

I PM'ed you!

I've been over here reading and have book marked my page at 22. Cute pictures of Treyner, Lily and Morgan! Too funny about Carsyn's friend and Jordy!
I'll be back tomorrow to finish up!

Oh my goodness...I am dying over here!! I followed you over from Wigd as your comments on her report were nice and sassy :thumbsup2 so I figured, this lady must write an awesome TR and YES YOU DO! All this fun and craziness and you haven't even left Indiana yet. I can't wait to see what lies ahead.

Wigd, you said that you bookmarked at page 22 - how did you do that? My TR's used to be set to open up where I left off when I logged off but lately every time I log out and go back to log back in at a later time, everything is marked as read and I have no idea where I left off??:confused3

Well I do know what you are talking about in Indiana cause my Grandparents are from Iowa and many trip through that sad state for family trips home. Glad you have seen it too because I did not know if maybe I was being a bit snotty and as a social worker background, I try really hard to get other peoples life choices but this, if it is a choice, I do not get.

Anyway I know IOWA, no I wasn't born there nor have I ever lived there but I know there and there is alot of weird there, including my extended family.

I am dying here! You are so funny! I called the kids Dad who is from Iowa - most of his family is from there and will not drive outside the county they live in...a point of my big mouth and one liners ever since I knew.

Awesome for you! Great choice of saving money and putting it to something you want. :thumbsup2

Tammy, I love when people post so don't ever say you feel like you invade again. I know many people who write Tr's and not a one of them feels like it would be worth it if we did not have people like you reading along with our writing.
i don't remember much homework in my 8 years of undergraduate study....:cool1::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::banana::yay::dance3:
Don't tell me that...but a serious question - did you have to take out loans in your own name for your schooling or did someone else take care of it?

Even having 2 kids in college, getting married, kids Dad played college football which meant many years having little help in the fall, I finished up in 5 years and that also included 3 colleges and loosing some credits in the transfer process. There was a lot of girls I knew who were on the long track but they had parents who were paying for their "boarding school" and they were not motivated to get it done.

Studies have shown that most boys are not ready for college until about 22 in regards to discipline and focus on school. The kid's Dad, would have never graduated from college if I had not helped (cough....spew...done) a huge chunk of his papers and kept him disciplined. If he would have had a normal life of a football player in college for most of his college life, he has said he never would have graduated.

He also seriously questioned his choice of major (teaching :lmao: ) his last year but it was too late to change. I think if he would have waited till later to go to school, he would have gone in a different direction.

I don't know. Topic around here for sure with Treyner being a Freshman.

So I will admit my ignorance but I have no idea how to mark a page or how to actually bookmark a TR either. Please help me get it. I just hunt for the TR's I like and have to go back and forth between pages until I have a clue where I left off.

If I am told, I am also warning I might not use the advice well but at least I will have the option. Kind of like book marks I used to get being a voracious reader and never used either. :rolleyes1

Thanks for comming over and I appreciate you understanding the difference between craziness happening to us or us being crazy! :rotfl2:

I have to comment about boys and college. My oldest is 24 and after 7 years of college is finally going to graduate this May. No I don't think he was really ready for college after high school, but I didn't want him to be a bump on a log either. So off to college he went. Although it has taken him a long time I think it was for the best. He didn't go too far away, only about 3 hours. He needed it to grow up. Along the way he has learned some important lessons and now that he can see the end of the tunnel is so happy. He's married but his wife is in Madison, WI completing a program to go with her biology degree. He has just moved back home so he can do his student teaching. This was his first week and so far he's excited about it. I think he has always wondered and so have we if he has picked the right thing. He's naturally talented in music and his degree will be in music education. He also has great patience with kids.:thumbsup2

Update on something I am organizing:

I am doing a fundraiser for the people of Haiti through Silpada. 100% of my profit will be going to a dedicated Haiti relief fundraiser.

There are 4 different relief organizations I have researched and I think are great sources of aid for Haiti and I am going to have each person or company that participates, vote on where they would like to see their money go. We will split the proceeds to the 2 with the most votes.

I know with Baylor's injuries, fI elt helpless in doing anything for my child before we got to the hospital. I cannot imagine those parents not being able to help their children or themselves and knowing that without the kindness of others, there is no help. In fact burns are a huge issue there due to gas explosions.

There are ways for people to help and not spend any money if your budget is tight right now.

If anyone is curious and wants more info on how I am running it and if they want to help, please e-mail me at:

dizneydreamz@yahoo.com

and put in the memo - Haiti info.

Thanks!

I totally get what you are saying and no way would Treyner be laying here in the morning while everyone around him was working or going to school. I wonder if there is something else if kids are not ready for school we as parents or even schools can offer as alternatives and still provide the growth and learning they need to become healthy adults.

There is the Peace Corps but i wonder if we could not as a society organize something here that deals with community service and philanthropy and would be a 2 year commitment to others. I know some countries do this sort of thing and it has helped the country in many ways.

I think he has always wondered and so have we if he has picked the right thing. He's naturally talented in music and his degree will be in music education. He also has great patience with kids.:thumbsup2

I hope it works for him! The kids dad was not in a specific field like music and I think his one and only teaching job was not in a good school to help develop and support young teachers.

I bet you are proud of him!:thumbsup2

Since we are talking about college, i thought i would throw my 2 cents in (cuz i know you all were just dying to hear...). I graduated in June 2009 with a degree in Dental hygiene. Passed all my boards, recieved my license in July 09. I have maybe worked since july approx 25 days total in a dental office. There are very little jobs out there in my area, and yes we have thought about moving, we just cant afford it. I also paid about $50,000 for my education (ok some of that were loans i had to take out to live, not the best decision, but the only way i could live at the time). Not complaining, I just wish i would have made better decisions. (that whole "hindsight is 20/20 thing:rolleyes1)

I was having a conversation with my best friend i grad hygiene school with and we both, hands down, said if we had it to do all over again, we would choose a totally different career path. I thought about going back to get my bachelors (i grad with an associates, all you need for dental hygiene), but was told it would take 3 yrs of full time work. I just dont have that kind of time, or can afford to spend that kind of money again. I would have gotten my bachelors in teaching, or even thought about going to nursing school. Can you tell that even at 23 years old, still have no idea what I want to do when I grow up?!?!.

I think 18 is way to young to make life long decisions about school. I will be paying off those student loans for the rest of my life for a career that I am not 100% sure that I will ever work full-time in. I wish I had a better plan in high school to know what I wanted to do. BUT all that said, I have my degree, and no one can ever take it away from me:goodvibes.

I hope Treynor finds something he is passionate about, because it is a terrible feeling to graduate college, and then have a "oh cr@p" moment! lol. Goodluck to him!

I'm Treyner's age (well 6 months younger if we're being technical... :rolleyes1) and a freshman in college and I can definitely see the difference. I go to a large state school in VA and it seems to me that the girls are a lot focused on school while the guys are more worried about partying and "getting" as many girls as they can. Most of the boys, not all, have that mentality that since they are in college now they can do whatever they choose. I just think there is a large difference in maturity between guys and girls in college. There are some other things I could say regarding boys priorities, but it wouldn't be appropriate for the DIS ... use your imaginations! Haha

Also, I think it's ridiculous that I'm 18 and have to decide what I'm going to do for the rest of my life. How the h*ll am I supposed to know??

This college stuff is very interesting to me. I graduated college 20 years ago! :scared1: and went to a small liberal arts college and got a BA. What do I do with that? Well go to law school of course!! Now I honestly believed that i wanted to be a lawyer (and I am) but I'm over 40 now and still not sure what kind of lawyer to be. So it's totally understandable to me that at 18 not many kids know what to do with the rest of their lives.
I like to think that even my BA opened a lot of doors and like PP said - they can never take that degree away. It's education and even if you never "use" it in a job/career, it will always be there. Nowadays people change careers 3 times in their lives anyway. The hardest part is that it costs SO much to go to college, people feel they need to get their money's worth and go to school so they can do something specific. That and the sucky job market make it so difficult.

Instead of Peace Corps, don't we still have Americorps? Or whatever it's called that Clinton started?

Thankfully I have a few years before my children need to start looking at colleges. My DD8 wants to be a vet, a lawyer (!) a teacher and an artist. She also wants to work at Target. But that may have something to do with the fact that I told her that would be a great 1st job since we live about a half a mile from Target and we could use the employee discount!! The day she turns 16 she's walking up there and filing out an application!!!

Oh one other thing about bookmarking threads. I don't know how to do specific pages, but if you subscribe to the thread it is a lot easier to find them. On the top of the thread there is a box that says Thread Tools, and if you pull it down, you can click Subscribe. Then on your little Welcome box (the yellow one) underneath it says Quick Links. Pull that down and it says Subscribed Threads. then you will have a list of them to follow. It shows the most recently active thread on top and there is a little arrow to the left of the title that takes you to the first unread post. Sometimes it is the first post that I have not read, sometimes it's not. I don't know why.

Hope that helps someone. I was thrilled when I figured that out. Of course now I feel obligated to keep up with reading 24 threads!!

I hope it works for him! The kids dad was not in a specific field like music and I think his one and only teaching job was not in a good school to help develop and support young teachers.

I bet you are proud of him!:thumbsup2

We are very proud! He's already passed his state boards.:thumbsup2
