Where do you stay besides the Radisson (its booked on May 25) ? Ive seen the list of places to stay on dcltribute but I would like opinions. I'm mostly interested in the value of the stay compared to the cost.

We wanted inexpensive lodging for the night before our cruise in May too. I went to www.hotwire.com and was able to book a room at the Hilton for $35. plus tax. I usually always stay at Hilton hotels anyway to get the air miles and Hilton Honor pts. I had checked their rates earlier and $99. was the cheapest I saw. It's right on the beach and for one night will serve our purpose.

We booked the Hampton Inn for April. We had a coupon for $69 and upgraded for another $10 to an oversized room that will sleep up to 6 people. Plus, they offer free breakfast and microwaves and fridges in all of their rooms. Let me know if you want the link for the coupon. (I did post it on another similar thread already).

We have stayed at the Hampton Inn twice in the last two years before our cruises. The hotel is only two years old, it is very close to the beach, and the continental breakfast is great.

I got the Hilton for $35 through hotwire.com too! Can't beat that price just for a decent place to spend a night.

That deal sound great on Hotwire! I was afraid to try Hotwire though...... we are traveling with 5 people and they don't gaurentee any more than double occupancy. PLUS we were hoping to get something that would include free breakfast -- becasue buying breakfast for 5 people could get pretty expensive in itself. Any suggestions for me if I want to try Hotwire sometime?

Jody, I clicked on the link you provided and was able to get to their homepage, but I cannot find any info on their page with the $69-$89 pricing. We are going in March, so we would be at the $89.00 rate. You mention a coupon, but I can't find that either. Any help would be appreciated.

I would only use hotwire under certain circumstances. You've got to have a little flexibility in you plans. For hotels, I'd use it in a location which has a fairly limited number of hotels (such a cocoa beach), limit the area to be searched as much as possible and be a little familiar with the hotels in the area (quality, location, ammenities). They list their travel partners on the web site so it's likely you'll get one of those companies. Then when you get a quote, you can almost figure out which hotel you'll get. For example, in cocoa beach I was quoted a 3 star hotel on the beach and their partners include Hilton and Doubletree so I figured it was probably one of those and for $35 the price was right. Turned out to be the Hilton.

My sister used it for airfare. You've got to have even more flexibility here but it can be worth it. She flew from Tucson to DFW for $170 rt when the regular fare was $280. I'd probably only use hotwire if I was flying between cities that only have a limited number of ways to get between them. If you check a site like orbitz.com ahead of time you can see which flights the airlines are already discounting and you're likely to get one of those.

For rental cars, I don't see any downside to using it, BUT I've found it's not always the least expensive. Sometimes dealing directly with the rental company works even better especially if you have AAA or something.

VondaP - try it again? I just clicked on the link posted in this thread and it went directly to the page with the deal. It isn't really a 'coupon' with a code or anything. It just states 'Travel Deal' for the Hampton.
I called the Hamptons number and they weren't aware of the advertisement, so I had to fax them a copy of it. They SHOULD be aware of it now though - as they have the copy I faxed them.

I just used Hot wire as well, I did the same thing, they are an Orbitz company, so you can assume it will be one of the hotels in that search. I got the Hilton for $35 the night before the inuagural cruise. My mom did the same and got it as well, The chepest price on the Hilton website is $99.00!!

I stayed at a B&B that is literally one minute's drive off of the Beeline Expressway 528 (which is the road from the airport direct to Cape Canaveral). It is only 10 minutes from the Port. It is right on the Indian River and is absolutely gorgeous and comfortable with FANTASTIC homemade breakfasts. The website is www.indianriverhouse.com. I highly recommend it.

Update - generally no kids under 12, the rates are per room, not per person.

Wow, that B&B looks like a really nice option! I would assume that their rate of $90-$95 night is per person? They also do state that children 12 an older are welcome. (so that would mean no young children). Thanks for the option!
