I currently have a reservation for 2 at 7:30pm on March 20 but I really would love to go earlier. How likely would it be that I might get an earlier time before our trip? We’re thinking we might like to go to the MK ticketed extra hours event that night and I’d love to be able to be at MK between 7-8pm, so if we could get an earlier 220 reservation I’d feel better about buying the MK extra hour tickets.

I use dining alert services to check for reservations (TP, Mouse Dining, etc.). I usually end up finding availability, however, that availability tends to only show up 1 - 2 days prior to the day I want to dine as people start canceling reservations. That may not be helpful if you want to buy tickets to an event.
