Spa vanity question for the ladies...

I have never been to a spa, but I am hoping to enjoy a Rainforest day and possibly get a massage or facial. My question - after you do the Rainforest activities or get a facial, I'm assuming your hair would be a wreck. Do you return to your room a mess, or do you fix up before you leave the spa? As I'm writing this, I realize it sounds silly... And it's probably not a big deal, as at least a few people are walking around with wet hair from the pool anyway, right?

Thank you for indulging my silly question!

I go back to my room looking a fright!! I always take my camera and take a picture of myself right after so that I can show my husband. It always makes for some laughs. But the time I get out of there, it has usually laid down some so it isn't nearly as bad. But when they rub your scalp and/or neck, my hair gets CRAZY!!!

I knew I could count on you ladies!!!!!! I feel better already! I will enjoy the heck out of it and will walk through the halls with crazy hair with pride! :cloud9: And I may even take an after picture! :cool2:

I always take a shower in the spa after a massage. I just return to my room with regular wet hair.

I shower in the spa as well. The showers are big and beautiful with much more room than the ones in the room. They have nice fluffy towels, shampoo, conditioner, razors, bath gel etc....even a blow dryer!!:thumbsup2

I like to leave the oils/lotions on my skin for a while, so don't take a shower right away. But - if you head out to the pool deck, you'll quickly realize that everyone looks hot, sweaty, and quite the mess, too, particularly with what humidity does to a lot of people's hair! You'll blend in just fine.....I always laugh at the one or two people who did their hair/make-up before going to the pool area. They kind of stand out compared to everyone else.....!

Then, magically, people start looking "normal" as it gets on towards dinner time and the showers are in high rev.

Here is a funny 'vanity' story for you -
My daughter and I were in an inside room and it was so dark we slept until 11am - we woke up thinking 'oh no we are missing all the fun!' and rushed through showers, tossed on swimsuits and coverups and off we went (sea day). Left the room with wet hair - didn't matter to me if my hair was wet, people would think I was swimming.
We went and grabbed food, sat by the pool for a while and then my daughter found friends and went to the kids club.
I found a great spot by the adult pool, settled in with my book. I did feel like people kept looking at me. Now, I am not a 'tiny' person and was like 'yah im fat and in a bathing suit and getting sun - you don't like it, don't look at it' - but I was growing increasingly self conscious as people were really staring. I was thinking maybe I had a big booger on my face or something.
The wind was blowing and my hair blew in my face - so I smoothed it back and it felt all sticky and gross - REALLY gross.
I FORGOT TO RINSE THE CONDITIONER OUT OF MY HAIR!!!
I literally ran back to my room -which was deck 5 aft - so I had to go from the adult pool, all through the crowds on a sea day and into my room. I could only imagine that my hair looked like a massive greasey mess - I got into my stateroom and looked in the mirror - my hair had BIG chucks of white dried conditioner all through it - it looked like i had been slimed or something with white pudding!!!!!!
I sat out on that deck like that for nearly 45 mins - I wanted to die!!!!!!!!!!!!
I rinsed my hair and then went to secret aft deck 7 -I couldn't even go back to the adult pool that day!!!!!!

If you use the steam rooms in the Rainforest Room your hair will be affected. Facials can wreck the front of your hairdo--if you don't intend to wash your hair in the shower, bring a comb and a hairband with you to tidy up a bit before you venture out.

What is a Rainforest day? :goodvibes

Guess what? No body is looking, and you feel wonderful.:goodvibes

Exactly! ;) I go back to the room or to the place where I left my husband and go from there. That may involve getting in the pool, etc. It's all good. We're all on vacay and no one cares if your hair is looking like this-->:scared1: So just go and enjoy the spa.:hippie:

Great story!! That totally sounds like something I'd do!! :lmao:

As for how I look leaving the spa..... usually I'm slithering out to the pool or down to deck 4 (on the Magic and the Wonder they have great chairs on deck 4).... I'm so relaxed that it doesn't even matter.

Day pass for the rainforest room....where they have various saunas, steam rooms, showers .... and the infamous tile chairs. Very comfy and a great place to just relax!

As a Pooh sized person, I've always been very uncomfortable and self conscious about being at spas, pools, beaches, etc.

But I learned something.

No one cares. They barely look. They're all too concerned with how THEY look themselves.

I'm still not good with pools (although I managed the hot tub on the Magic!) but I go to the spa and I go swimming at Castaway Cay and it's the most fun I have each year. My husband looks forward to seeing me splash around and giggle like a kid again.

It's my happy place.

So, don't worry. Enjoy!

And if anyone says anything, have a retort handy (mine is, "I'm fat and you're ugly but I can diet"). I've never actually had to use it -- and don't think I could be quite that rude -- but it's nice to have a little mantra.

I think that everybody realizes that we're all on vacation.... to be ugly and potentially ruin another person's vacation....well, you'd have to be a pretty  unhappy, petty person to do that!!

Now, that said.... if I'm on Serenity Bay and I've been sitting in my chair all day and I get up to get a Konk Kooler and you drag off my chair..... well, I might say something. ;)

Hope you have a great vacation!!!
