My DD14 has just informed me that she is not leaving my side during the trip. Yes she is shy! DS12, probably won't see him, he is extremely outgoing. But that is ok, I don't mind the company, plus we can get some mother-daughter time without DS. But I would like to do some spa treatments and she wants to do that with me also. Are there any treatments that they allow teenagers to do? DD can pass for 17 or 18. :flower:

The used to offer a Teen Spa Treatment. It was a mini facial, manicure, pedicure and I think one other thing...can't remember. I didnt' see it offered on our cruise in December, and actually forgot about it. However, if you are interested, you can always ask if it's available during your cruise. I think it was $69.00 or something like that.

She will love it.

When we cruised on the Wonder last year, the only thing that my 16 year old was able to do was the teen manicure & pedicure. Other than that, you had to be 18 or over for the rest of the spa treatments. Also, I don't think it will matter how old your daughter looks, they know how old she is because her age will already be in their computers. Sorry!

Sorry, she can not go in the spa with you unless it is a special daughter/teen event. Believe me..even if you would take her with you..someone will go to the front desk and she will be out in a minute. This is an adult area.

This wasn't enforced when I was in the salon this past January. A mother had brought her toddler in while she was having her nails done. I was on the other side of the salon having my hair cut, so it didn't bother me at all. I was surprised to see him there, but I don't know what the situation was of him being allowed in.

To the OP, I noticed on a recent 7 night Eastern Navigator that there were teen spa times posted and also a special mother/daughter treatment of a mini facial, mini makeover and mini manicure for $145. I don't know what's offered on the other cruises though.

That would be I. Sorry, I don't mean to come across as a prick, but I'd get pretty miffed if I saw kids in the adult areas. As I said before, you don't see the adults waiting in line to use the slides in the kids clubs.

As for manicure/pedicures/etc I don't believe this is "in" the spa proper, per se. The "beauty salon" is off to the right as soon as you walk in the door so I'm guessing if you have little ones they would get as far as the spa lobby and the beauty parlour.

I really can't address the hair salon, but the spa and fitness center are strictly adults only except during special teen events. They are quite strict about this. So...if you plan to use these areas, it would be without your teen daughter. However, my teen loved The Stack so much that I would only see her for dinner and planned family evening events (and in the bed until noon!)

Thanks for the replies. When I called DCL, I was told I wouldn't find out about any teen spa activities until we checked in. I went ahead and made my reservations and my DD will just have to learn how to be more sociable.

Since this is our first cruise, I believe that she is experiencing a little anxiety since she doesn't know what to expect. I anticpate that kcashner's story will be the same for my DD. At least I hope so! :jumping1: :jumping1:

Hi ams71! I have a DD14 and we were just on the 4/16 Eastern. The only treatment they offered for Teens was the manicure, pedicure and facial along with a hairstyling tips. They only offer this service during port days. When you board the ship go up to the spa and have your name put on the waiting list and they will call you if they see there is going to be any free time for the teens. They like to book the "big" girls treatments first!

It was $89 and included the treatments plus pretty rhinestone hair clips and Steiner Styling Mist - full size. My DD does not like to have her nails done so she had the facial and pedicure. We were going into St. Martin so did not have her hair done either. The girl was very sweet and my DD had a wonderful time.

My DD tried the Stack - teen club - twice and it was mostly boys that were immature. She never went back. They also start the activites later on in the day and they go until 2am - my DD is not a night owl. Have your DD try the teen club at least once! We bribed our DD to try it and she gave it a shot but it didn't work out!

I know ya'll will have a wonderful time! :cool1:

Will they book appointments in the Salon for teen girls to have their hair done for formal nights?

Can children have their hair cut on board the ship? Last cruise we just ran out of time to get everything done beforehand, and my daughter looks so shaggy in our otherwise wonderful photos. I assumed she could not get her hair done because the spa is an adults area, so I didn't ask. But is it possible?

According to the DCL website, guests of both the spa and salon must be at least 18 years of age. (Although it's been established that there is a special teen spa package offered at select times on some of the cruises)

Do the salon staff ever do in-cabin services for those too young to venture into the salon?

Sorry, but they do not offer in room salon services. As stated must be age 18 and up for the spa and salon.

While I totally agree that the spa should be an adults-only area, I am surprised that they don't offer some sort of hair styling services, perhaps in an alternate area, for little girls. The Disney folks are in business to make a buck, after all, and think of all the pampered little girls on board whose parents would pay to have their hair done.

And I am surprised they don't offer in-cabin services. What about someone to be married on the ship who needs to have her hair done with her veil? Surely she doesn't troop around the ship in her veil and bathrobe? And what about VIPs and celebrities? Would some of them not want their hair done in private?

I would guess that 1/2 the young ladies I saw on our cruise actually had their hair done in cornrow braids. This seems to be the most popular hairstyle and DCL does actually offer this service up on deck. I can't imagine that many parents wanting to sign their child up for a haircut while on board and they can't even accomodate all the adult women who want up-do's for formal night. Who knows though, if enough people write in comments about this service becoming available, perhaps DCL will look at the feasibility of adding a teen/child area during a future dry dock.

While I haven't experienced this, my guess is that if a guest in concierge service made this request, then they would make arrangements for a private session.
