Has anyone ever had this? It's 55 minutes. What does it entail? I've never had a pedicure. Is this something worth doing?

I was also wondering about a facial, but I read several posts that said don't bother with the facial treatments.

So - pedicure and facial - definitely do it or don't bother?

Thanks

For my money, the pedicure is always the best investment of any spa treatment. It's a great introduction to the spa lifestyle, and with the right polish properly applied, you can enjoy beautiful toe nails for the next month! Its about 5 minutes of polish application, preceded by a lot of good smelling steps that leave your feet and legs feeling divine. If you are choosing between a facial and a ped, go for the ped. I haven't often found facials to be relaxing, and sometimes you can end up a bit blotchy (although cruise facials are generally not as intense as treatments on land). Plus, pedicures can be enjoyed with a friend or a good book or magazine.

Have fun on your cruise!

I wouldn't bother with a pedicure on the ship because you can get something just as good or better for a cheaper price on land. If you want to pamper your feet, get the reflexology instead. Personally, I like the facials...I can get those on land too, but they put me to sleep so I like them for relaxing on the ship.

Deciding to do a spa treatment on-board ......... so much depends on the frequency with which you get them at home I think. I get regular pedicures throughout spring/summer/fall so wouldn't get one on the ship because I wouldn't need one. And the prices on the ship are outrageous compared to what I pay too. (If you decide to get a ped, make sure you don't shave your legs that morning -- you risk irritation from the lotions etc that are used on your legs if they're freshly shaved.)

But that doesn't mean that YOU shouldn't do it. There's nothing wrong with trying out a new experience, especially when you're on vacation! And so if you've never had a pedicure, go for it! Ditto the facial. (I personally don't like them because I always find my facial skin extremely sensitive for a few days afterwards -- and I sure wouldn't want to go through that while on vacation under the hot sun. But that's me.....)

I went on my first cruise last year and even though spa treatments and salon treatments are certainly not unfamiliar to me :rolleyes1 , I definitely wanted to experience some on-board pampering! I opted for massage -- a foot massage and a scalp massage. Cost me way too much money :) but I'm still glad I did it. Now, on my upcoming cruise, I don't feel the need to hit the spa, but if there's a daily special that tempts me, I may go for it :)

My DH and I had this on the Magic in 2004 and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We booked appts with 2 different technicians for the same time slot so we were in the pedicure chairs side by side and it was a lot of fun. :) DH has diabetes so we figured that the massage of his feet and lower legs were good for him in a "medicinal" sense. LOL I'll never forget the look on his technician's face when my technician asked me what color nail polish I wanted, and when I chose a color, my DH said "I guess I'll get the same color so we can match!"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: It took her a moment to realize he was joking!!

I really enjoyed this pedicure. They used a peppermint based lotion which was wonderful. (Of course, I had to buy it.) ;)

Sure, I can get pedicures at home, but they don't compare to onboard treatments. There you are, gazing out at the sea while being completely, totally pampered. Ahh.....:cloud9:

I am one of those who enjoyed the pedicure on the ship. I am not one who would go at home to get it done.--I'm not a nail salon kinda gal. My friend "kidnapped" me once for a manicure/pedicure ( my first) as a thank you for helping her move. I did enjoy it, but found the shop very crowded. Whereas, my experience on Disney was more laid back and relaxing. I think when your on the cruise, you free yourself up to do things you wouldn't normally do because you know you won't see anyone again. LOL

I am a Pedicure gal. I have my very first one ever on the Wonder a few years ago and it was wonderful. I do have them done during the summer months and don't pay nearly as much at home, BUT, that 55 minute Pedicure involves a leg and foot massage that is just wonderful!!
I never had much luck with facials, they feel good and all, but I always break out or have blotches afterward.
Definately splurge and do whatever works for you.
