Spa discounts?

I read where DVC gets a few discounts at SSR for certain services (I think it was 20% off for the swedish massage, the hydrotherapies, mystic forest treatment, facials, manicure or pedicure, etc)

I am interested in the hydromassage HOWEVER was wondering ... does DVC receive any discount at GF spa? It's owned by the same batch of folks. I ask becasue we will be sending our kids off on the Pirate cruise there (so it would be like one stop shopping!) And because I like the sound of the citrus offerings at GF versus the more woodsy/mineral overtones at SSR.

I agree -- there isn't anything posted on the member news. I got the 20% discount info from someone who had called the SSR spa and those were the discounts they were given. Maybe that's what I'll have to do -- call SSR and GF and see what they say about discounts at their respective spas for DVC.

CarolMN, Do you know if SSR residents can use the health club portion of SSR? The pics of the health club looked great, but I have not heard if this is included like the other resorts, or if it is an extra charge. At other condos that we stay at, I usually enjoy using the work-out rooms.

Anyone can use the health club/spa, but I think you want to know if there will be a charge for DVC members.

I don't know - maybe someone else does.

However, I see no reason to believe the policy will be any different for SSR than it is for the other DVC resorts. I'd bet that the health club will be free for DVC members to use during their stay just like the others. (At the BWV health club, you just leave your resort ID with the CM while you are using the machines).

Everyone has to pay for the services like massages, but DVC members do get discounts on some services.

For those who have purchased SSR, you may have received an "Acknowledgement of Spa Option" document with your contract papers. This paper specified that DVC members will receive a 20% discount of all spa services at SSR or a 30% discount off of regular rates for certain other spa services to be specified upon opening of the spa.

It also says that the spa option may be modified, supplemented, or terminated at any time without notice to the purchaser, so not really sure how much it's worth.

We're at SSR right now and there was no information provided about any DVC discounts at the Spa.

We asked to see the Fitness Center (it's located at the Spa) and were given the opportnity to walk thru the facility- verrry nice!

There is no charge to use the Fitness Center for SSR guests and they volunteered that OKW also had complimentary use of the SSR Fitness Center.

So I wonder -- does that mean "spa options" (perks) are only available to SSR owners (DVCII) since they are the only ones with the info?

I am a DVC owner at BCVs and I called to make a spa reservation at SSR for July and I was told by Michael, the guy who made my reservation over the phone at the spa, to bring my DVC card. There is a DVC discount for services at the spa.
