Spa Automatic Gratuity

I personally would hate any automatic tipping scheme as a worker. If my wages depend on tips, the better I am, the better my tips. I like the idea of excelling and being rewarded accordingly.

The company that I am with currently, I've been with for 2 years. I have a strong work ethic and have worked my way in to management even though I started as a relatively base level employee. The reason this occurred is extra effort on my part.

I make more per paycheck than some people who have been around for 5+ years, and the reason for this is because I've earned it.

In the service industry how you "earn it" is by excelling... Not just because it's expected.

Well, the change doesn't go into effect until June 28th, but I don't expect them to correct the website anytime soon. It won't be the only inaccurate piece of info on there.

I'm actually glad they did it. We usually tip 25% for spa type services. DCL just saved me some money!

It's only taken 10days but this is the response I received from DCL this morning

We truly appreciate your concerns and your email has been shared with
the appropriate management teams. It is not our intent to upset our
loyal Disney Cruise Line Guests.

Please feel free to discuss any modifications to the gratuities with the
staff at the check-in desk at Senses Spa & Salon.

We regret any disappointment and hope these concerns will not continue
to affect your regard for Disney. There is magic in the Disney name and
we anxiously anticipate sailing again with you and your family in
August.
